If you had to pick. XR1200 or Nytro

Thinking about building a turbo 4 st.. Need your advice on what direction you guys would suggest. I know I am asking this in the Yammy section but I would hope that I can get some unbiased opinions of people that have seen the sleds in real life and can give there opinions.

It seems like there are a few XR1200's that have been running good and a lot more Nytros that run real good.

Either sled would be getting a MCX kit, 174, M10 or EZ ryde and all the normal goodies. Please provide the details as to why believe one would be better than the other.

This sled would be used for riding in Revy and Whistler. Thanks

For me: I have yet to see a single turbo 1200 on the mountain.

It looked so promising and I was expecting a flood of them but to not see even one on the mountain in the last two years scares me.

I would have to go with the Nitro for this reason, I just need a little track record behind a purchase of that magnitude.

I watched a T1200 at fairview last year, the last thing it was, was impressive! Im sure they have alot of potential, but that comes with time.

they nytro has been out plenty long and has had plenty of R&D, support, and plenty of time for the aftermarket to figure em out.

I to have seen a few 1200 doos work good and also some 1200 customers that where not happy, It is a new sled though. I ride with a mcx 1200 and the owner is happy, although it does not make the power like the yamaha. But he still has not turned it up past 14psi. The talk last year of the 1200 running 12 psi and would be running with the Yamaha at 18 psi is not even close to true from what ive seen. Both powderlites and mcx make a nice kit for the doo and I would probably try the powderlites and go see Dave Miku for a final tune. He has got the powderlites kit running clean with the rb3.So But if you go with a mcx nytro it will run day in and day out and run strong with few to no issues. There both good sleds they both weigh near identical. If i had to choose seeing i already own a apex i would try a doo..

Pastor well said, your comments reflect my thoughts exactly.

I have not taken the 1200's off the table and hope we see some of them come to life. The problem I have is no matter what you do with them, they will always make a different kind of power. Not the kind of power you get out of a 4 stroke. Heat will always be a huge issue no matter how hard they pull and my fear is at the end of the day they truly will be a point and shoot sled. I'm afraid to keep them running you are going to have to cool them after every hard pull. As it stand right now all of the big boosted 2 strokes are limited in drivability due to heat. Not for me.

Last i heard the 1200 doo is a four stroke and heat was not a issue?

nytro

the only reason i would pick a nytro over a 1200 doo is simple. the turbo companies have had more time to fine tune their product, and seem to hold up, i have 6000 kms on mine and still running strong.

I hear there are a few strong running 1200s out east , but have never seen one here.

There are 2 of them here and they are supost to be fast, they even showed up for the drag races.

After warming up at the end of the lake and doing a few pulls against the 240 hp MCX Nytro they just packed up and went home.

I see lots of potential in them but it will take some time to make them realy work .

I rode a 1200 at 14 lbs and it pull hard but the engine braking is something to to pay attention to. It felt heavier than my RX1 and the torque is so thick that it feels like there is no power band. Just doesn't feel as fun to me. I have never riden a Nytro.

Hey Whiz,

I have ridden the 1200 Doo and it pulls hard for sure. The first thing you need to ask yourself is do you want to have to wear faggy yellow gear??? ((just kiddin you DOO fags) lol, just kiddin about that too)!!!:face-icon-small-ton. All kiddin aside I rode Doc Zooms carbon fiber Doo up in Revy and it was a blast. It was a Powder Lites kit I believe and because of the weight savings it was pullin along all the Nytro (Impulse and Alpine Kits) at 2-3 pounds less boost. Light weight is good for alot of riding conditions but in my humble opinion I would not be climbing shoots with it. Not because it will not hold up it's because to me the sled felt WAY to unpredictable. I like the beef on my Nytro. I know when my skis are down and I'm hittin 20 lbs of boost I have sure footedness. <---- is that a word??? that I did not get from the Doo. The 1200 Doo also did not have the quick hit on the bottom like my Impulse Nytro does. Once it did hit though it was a very smooth and powerful sled. (To be fair I do not know what the clutching set up was on the DOO).

If you serious about building a sled give me a call. Paul from Impulse has some very serious things coming out for the Standalone system. I'm not gonna say what cause I don't want to steal his thunder. The guy is amazing and is raising the bar YET again. Give me a call and have "MOTLEYONE KUSTOMS" build you an Impulse Nytro from the ground up. I'm in Spokane, WA. You can't beat my prices on a full build. I will build you a beast. Check my posts for pics of my last build and stay tuned for my next build. 509-999-0923.

I know of a couple 1200's with powderlite kits that are currently looking for engine parts. They just don't like the boost like the yamaha's!!
