If you had to get new clothing what brand would you choose??

We rode in wet conditions a a week ago and my Riema britches were soaked down low, but my jeans were dry as a popcorn fart.

My old britches would have never done that well. I think those were Arctic Cat brand. ??? Of course they had several seasons on them, but I don't think they ever did this good even when new.

I need to see about updating my 15 yr old coat one of these days now...

You gotta lose the jeans OX..that is a horrible base layer and will effect the overall performance of any gear you are wearing.

If you ever did get in a sticky situation and your jeans got wet and cold it would be bad news.

You would be surprised how much more comfortable, dry and warm your riding experience would be with a layer of poly instead.

So when you update that gear do yourself a favor and spring for the whole shabang.

You don't really need to get fancy for that layer either. Even the Klim and Motorfist versions of your mid layer are basically glorified warm up pants. I have the hydrophobic pants from Motorfist and they work great, but my Champion warm ups are basically composed of the same materials. Just stay away from cotton. I am still amazed at how many of my friends wear jeans under all their gear. Not only are they a magnet for moisture, but they suck from a mobility standpoint as well. Plus, I like the Eastern European gangster look when I am having a frosty one at the saloon after a day of riding.:face-icon-small-hap

My dad refuses to give up his jeans when he rides. We've never ridden when he wore something other than jeans under his snow pants. Going on 35 seasons now...

LOL

I've spent a few nights in the bush already.
None were planned, but one was prepared for.

I'm still kickin'....

Man has been in the bush long before fancy clothes.

Not really ... our sleds are 10 yrs old.

I doo sport a newer (bigger) track tho. Does that count?

In all honesty - I am likely dryer than most any of you.

I am in awe as to what some of you guys are willing to wear out in the snow.

I see clothing manufacturers offering "pant".
Are you bloody kiddin' me? :face-icon-small-sho

...and I hear of guys wearing them!

My new Reima britches are bibs, but I would like it if the backs went up a little higher. But compared to what some of you guys wear - I'm in high cotton!

My boy even remarked on our way home that he did git a little dusting up his back over the weekend on the Reima's.

And then boots:

Those little "sno-board" ankle high things? Are you kidding?

Oh - sure, they are nice and light, and you can throw them around easier.. ???

I usta wear knee high pull-over chore boots 12 hrs a day when werking on the dairy farm. Enough so that the hair on the back of my calf was worn off. You git used to it.

I usta wear Sorel "Glacier's" which are swell boots, but they have a cloth type shell above the ankle. :face-icon-small-con

Then I seen Cabelas (?) had a new boot from Sorel called the "Ice Fisher" that was rubber all the way to just below the knee. THIS is what I want in a boot! Snow doesn't git up over the tops and pour in. And wet snow and/or slush doesn't find it's way through! My feet are DRY!

So when I hear about folks preaching about stay-dry clothing, I really hafta wonder how much they are really concerned about staying dry - or if it is more about running with the crowd, or even one-upping their chumms?

I'm not into "stuff". I just want to ride.

BTW - the "Ice Fisher" boot was only in production for just a yr or two. I only know two other guys that had them. And one of them has riden to Resolute NWT via snowmachine, and hoping to ride to Greenland one day - if he hasn't done it yet.
Sorry - I guess the Resolute site is not up anymore.
I plan to talk to him later in the winter. I will see how Greenland is comming...

More often than not, when I am in the bush, I am sans clothes.

I will admit, I am a "gear guy". I have also found a few open creek bottoms the hard way, and I guarantee had I not had all my fancy stuff on I would have been absolutely miserable the rest of the day...or frozen solid.

Had to look up Sans Clothes.
Was not familier with that brand name before.

Sorry if I am a wee bit skittish to ride with you.... :face-icon-small-ton

How does this thread continuously get "topped" with no new replys?

Motorfist

Been out on some rainy rides this season and come back dry with this gear! Nothing but good things to say! And my knee braces fit in the pants without binding.

HMK preformed flawless again this season.

Well I did burn one pair gloves on the can while grabbing my hotpot. They need an oven mitt glove combo!

Was lookin into hmk for next season but having some trouble deciphering their info. Do you know which versions are insulated? Any info/advice appreciated.

I've been wearing Klim Gear on and off for many seasons... I've tried some of the competition out there and much of it is top notch... I've settled in on Klim gear and this past season "Re-upped" for a new complete set of gear because it has never let me down... both with quality of construction and the excellent customer service.

As most of you know, this year has been a sloppy season for the most part... and I can say that from head to toe, I stayed nice and dry.

I really like my New Adrenaline GTX boots with the Klim socks as a system. My normally sweaty/wet feet remained dry all day.

The new design Freeride pants just plain fits better and gives more in the way of freedom of movement that any other snowmobile pant I've had. I use the built in knee pads to actually protect the pants from the hard knee braces and patella protection worn underneath.

I have a sweaty head... so finding a good helmet that keeps my head dry and my favorite pair of 509 Aviators fog free has been a challenge... Like many of you... buying an expensive helmet is something I needed to "ponder" but found in the end that my riding experience with this Super-well ventilated helmet was made much better. I threw down the cash on the F4 helmet and have not looked back. Sweet lid!!

I've just returned from Traveling abroad for a few weeks and had my Klim gear with me... My Inferno jacket was my best traveling jacket I've had in a long time.. Easy to care for... An accident with a plate of spaghetti... washed in the sink and it dried overnight... the Aggressor Briefs were the same story, no spaghetti but easy to wash in the sink and fast dry which minimizes the amount I need to take on a trip with me... some of the best travel gear I've had... allowed me to pack light and still have top notch stuff to wear.

I've had nothing but good luck with their gear and they keep raising the bar. They take a "Systems Approach" to all the gear that they make and it makes a difference at the end of the day for me. Yes it is at the top of the price scale...but to me... it is worth the additional work I have to do to pay for it, in the end, my comfort is worth it!
