idle screw?

my 98 670x has the 44mm roundslides , is the idle screw the big one (kind of a knob) with a spring on the back side ? of each carb..the mag side is impossible to get my fat sausage fingers down inside there to adjust..screw in idle up correct? anyone have any tips or tricks on adjusting:confused: thanx ...:beer;

Thats the one. The other screw in the other side (smaller one) is the air screw.

You will have to take the airbox off to adjust or get a long set of needlenose pliers and see if you can turn it without. Its a good idea to pop the airbox off and sync the carbs at the same time to confirm both opening and closing at the same time. Idle can be adjusted at the same time.

IMO the best way to adjust the idle is to back those idle screws out so they are not touching the slides ( don't even use them) , then use the cable adjustment to sync and adjust idle. This way both slides will leave idle at the same time and always be in sync.
