Idle Adjustment

I just had my sled at the dealership and while it was there I asked them to re adjust the TPS, so they did and said it was out just a tad. When I dropped the sled off there it idled at 1700, now it idles at 2000?? What gives, is there a idle adjustment on these sleds, or is it all done through the ecu?

setting the tps will affect idle. take it for a ride then see what the idle is at. mine idles fast cold but calms down on the trail or mountian

you can back off the idle adjustment screw slightly, it is the screw on the throttle bodies with the lock nut were the cable attaches. but not much it affects tp reading.

Sorry, this might sound stupid, but how does that screw affect throttle position readings?

chevy, you have to look close but there is a idle speed screw in there...as long as the deler set the base tps setting right then you should have to barely tweak the screw to get the idle rpm right...

Mine idles the same after a TPS adjustment.

I check with a few people and got the same answer. My father-in-law is one of the best polaris mechanics in the midwest and I have discussed this a lot with him. He says this motor likes a 2000-2200 rpm idle.

Edit: and by same I mean same as yours

Thanks for the info guys.... I guess I can go 2 ways here, slighlty adjust the idle screw, then check plugs to make sure i am still getting a good a/f ratio....or leave the idle where it is at?

What do most guys run for idle rpm? I know the manual say 1500 +/-200 or something, but what are most guys doing?

after i adjusted my 900 and my wifes 700s TPS...both idled about 2000 as well..i personally dont like it that high..

i adjusted the idle speed screw as stated above..JUST BARELY, or like BD said..it will throw your TPS off again..

BOTH of out sleds idle about 1500 now..and its just where i want it....but some days, it might fluctuate and idle a little lower..if it causes an issue..raise it back up to 1800 or so..

just dont go below 1500 at a minimum
