Ideas to stiffen up a X3 track?

Anyone cut and screwed an x3 yet? Seen a post awhile ago of someone cutting it to 2.75"... I like the track, would like the stiffer compound of the challenger extreme 3" but don't want the added weight. For a buddy running a boosted XM turbo, C3 belt drive and rolled case.. 156x15x3"... Was thinking about cutting the edges of the middle paddles and inside of outer paddles down 1/4 and sinking some 1.5 screws, not cold cutters, just sink some drywall screws so I won't tear up the concrete and trailer floor etc.. Our snow sets up quick where we ride, unfortunately dont always get to ride bottomless fluff, therefore a more all around need. That X3 is soft...doesn't hook well on the setup snow, but works really well in the fresh no doubt. Always looking for the best of both worlds:face-icon-small-hap He has plenty of room in the bulkhead, so not worried about tearing anything up btw.

Anybody done this or have the same concerns , ideas?

Don't use regular drywall screws, get the trim headed screws so they bury themselves into the track more (fbomb track mod threads have photo's and part numbers).

Additionally Sheetrock screws are heat treated to a point of being quite brittle and will not take any flexing whatsoever. As you are trying to stiffen the lug, there is no point to installing something that will soon end up in the same condition as the stiffening rods in the newer Skidoo tracks (Flex Edge).

I actually bought some trim headed screws last night, was thinking the same thing...now just have to screw straight..:face-icon-small-ton

So has anyone done the FBomb track mod to an X3 yet? One thing is the x3 doesn't have is serrated tips like others... Since the tips are really thin I'm thinking about using 1 5/8 trim screw with the smaller head that uses a t10 tip thinking you can bury it flush and nobody would know..

Ideas?
