Look for some differant idea's on mounting a aftermarket headlight on my KK, I am running a mesh hood with no windshield, I need the headlight to be legal around here and more importantly for my NOS to work right, the pictures show my setup with the forward mounted steering post, pictures would be welcome, MADDOGWFO:light:

Maddog - I am not familiar with the laws up there so this may or may not be of use to you. However... I just installed the lead dog helmet light. Customer service was as good as you could ask for, price is super reasonable at $85, install was a piece of cake (I didn't hook up the brake function though) and it is functional. IF a helmet light qualifies as a headlight in your area, I'd recommend it. I took the stock headlight out of my stock KK hood for more venting.

I run a driving light from Auto Zone on my mesh hood but I am running a windshield. I think you could make a simple mount to put the light on your handlebar mount on top of your steering post. I didn't know we needed a light but I have never been bothered so it must be okay around here.

Are you running a Diamond S hood? I wasn't sure a forward post would fit with my Diamond S.

Why will a headlight make your nos work ?
I know that on the m series sleds you cant remove lights and such without adding a resistor or you will burn up your ecu or stator or something. The king is not that way. Maybe I am missing something here. I dont have a clue how boondocker systems work, But I am not getting the headlight makes nos work thing.

Kidrman and Rixster

I also have never been hassled running without a headlight here in Wash, or Idaho, or Montana, it is more to see if the extra voltage will make the NOS work, I have thought about tapping out a couple of holes on the handle bar riser like you mentioned, Rixster please read what my instructions from Boondocker, I no it is on the Polaris models but possably it could be happening to me, anyway it is worh a try, thanks for the imput guys MADDOGWFO

I remember reading a long time back where guys were sticking extra handwarmers on the steering post to create load for the lighting system when hood was removed. This might be simpler than installing a light you don't want.
