i am sick of always trying to find a place to store the spare on my trailer or in my bed. what are some ideas for a mounting location? something semi-easy to access and that wont get froze up. its a 2006 floe trailer if that makes a difference...

I always liked the idea of cabbaging a drop winch from the back of a newer pickup to hold the spare up under the deck. They work under pickups in the winter so they should work under a trailer.

I did that on my first covered trailer. Bought one from a salvage yard, made brackets to hold it up, made a crank for it, then raised the tire up under the trailer. The tire was then out of sight but readily available if needed.

Here's a pic of my spare mounted to the front ramp. The bracket clamps onto the ramp with bolted connections and the tire can be locked to the hub mount to prevent easy theft. The bracket is sold by our local Aluma Trailer dealer, so I'm assuming it's an Aluma accessory?

They work in the winter on pickups? I wouldn't go as far as saying that haha.

As of now, I think this is my best option. All other front mount options involve some sort of "swinging" mechanism to allow for clearance with folding down the front ramp(s) . Thanks for the picture.

Mounting does not effect the ramp function either, other than adding weight to the one ramp.
