Ideas for some finish work in your cabin

We got involved with a job a while back did some framing and sheet rock on a house for a guy. well when it came time for the finish work he asked dad if we wanted to do it. we were too busy but dad said he would do it in the evening. he has been working on it for quite some time but it turned out great. they wanted to make all the stare stuff out of para lamb to match the exposed beams. dad just about wore out a table saw doing it because the smallest para lamb you can get is a 6x6x12. the Hickory cabinets fit in great too. Any way just thought ya might get some ideas from it or enjoy the pic's

I will post some all finished pic when they get furniture and everything done:cool:

Wow, interesting!!! Great use of materials!! That saw will go poof any time!!:D

Well at first when dad told me I was like your kidding right? that's going to look terrible. I was wrong :p

That looks way better than I thought it would. We dont usually get the chance to do a lot of diffreent stuff. Most of my customers are still doing alder with iron. What part of Idaho are you in?

I like the wood used on those railings! Hickory is the only way to go for cabinets in my opinion.

We are finishing our cabin and my dad, mom and I have done everything,

Old man always comes up with some sort of cool idea as he likes to do any carpentry he can.

This is ours, railing has been put up since this picture.

That's a great idea on a simple product! The staining idea might be exactly what the lam is looking for. Staircase looks great!!

Well its hard to break the trend with rising costs on everything most like to stick with the standard. We located in burley Idaho

Interesting you mention alder. We just built a house in Iowa and used a knotty alder as our trim, doors and cabinets. A typical house here now either uses painted trim or oak. Alder is rarely used here, but sounds like the norm where you are.

Sorry to hi-jack, the work you dad did looks great! And a ported blade should run cooler and have less drag on the saw :)

How many blades did he go through on those stairs. I do really like the look and I would have never even have thought to come up with something like that.. two thumbs up..
