Idaho non-resident tag

This pertains to snow bikes only. Now in the state of WA you cannot license your bike as a "snowmobile" if it street legal without losing your plate. That is something i do not want to do. The second reason i bought a KTM was the ability to be street legal. I have been hearing that a non-resident idaho tag will reciprocate in WA. To me that seems like a big gray area.....Does anyone know if this is true? I understand that if i license it in WA it supports the grooming and other things and i support that by licensing my 2 snowmobiles every year. I am not trying to cheat the system by any means but I'm not willing to lose my plate to be legal for 2-3 rides i will take on my bike. Any input or thoughts....

That is what concerns me the most. I can't understand how a non-resident tag would be legit in a different state. Thanks

The Department of licensing is trying to work this problem out trying to make it so possibly you can get three registrations on a bike so you don't have to give up your plate or your orv sticker and you can get a snowmobile sticker they were supposed to have it figured out by the middle of January we have not heard yet I will try to do some checking the next couple days and see where they are on this. Reciprocation

ID and WA do not reciprocate on Snowmobile tags unfortunately.

WA doesn't even recognize a ID resident tag? So does that mean that WA has out of stage tags? Or am i confused?

You will be fine as far as state snowmobile registration reciprocity. What you would need if parking in a SnoPark would be a Washington SnoPark permit and in a couple places that are on state DNR land you may need a Washington Discover Pass.

As far as Oscar's comments unfortunately technology has moved faster than the way some laws are written for the street legal snowbikes. WSSA is working on the issue but ultimately it is going to take an RCW change which is going to have to go through the state legislature but it sounds like any issues that have been ticketed have been thrown out in court. Let me know Oscar if you plan on attending the WSSA Rendezvous. It would be great to have some snowbikers show up there so that they can see a face to help the cause.

Way should you have to pay twice? In Idaho your resident and non-resident stickers are designed to support your area you ride in the most. Like my area 9A Priest Lake but is good in the intirer state. All but 2% is givin to the local grooming area that you choose. that area then choose where and when grooming is need. In washington it all goes in to the general state fund and is then contracted out to the lowest bid to groom once a week. So if you paid your tab for the road and that goes into the general fund you should be coverd all except for the snow park premit. Thats my 2 bits for what it is worth.

WA is still all jacked up on the snowbike registration thing. At least as of last month they were.
I only use my off road bike as a snowbike but even that was a hassle. As my "bike" is now registered as a snowmachine and as such cannot be an orv or get street plates (if it was a dual sport).

Would have made sense if they let owners register the kit as a snowmachine and keep whatever other reg is for the bike, either plates or orv.
Them dipschitts then could have still collected their tithe on both halves and eliminated ALL the confusion.....

Instead, it was actually a tax benefit for me to just register the bike. They never got their double taxation on the kit.
