Idaho fishing

I am going to be in the grangeville area on the last week of october. Going to see my new born grandson. But i am thinking a fishing trip would be nice while i am there, son-inlaw does a fair amount of fishing but not sure if he can hook me up with what i am looking for. Can anyone tell me a good hotspot to go or recommend a good outfitter? thinking some salmon or steelhead. I plan on being there for a week.
Thanks

I've used fishing guide Sam Whitten out of Riggins, ID before. He can take you steelheading up the Salmon or over to the Snake up Hells Canyon, depending on where the best chances for catching fish are. Hells Canyon is a blast, but the Salmon is a lot of fun too. We usually see tons of wildlife (sheep, goats, elk). The boat ride alone is a lot of fun. Sam is a fun guide and knows both rivers very well. Not sure which outfitter is his, but I'm sure you can find out with a little googling. I can't wait to go. Have fun.

maybe i read the orders wrong i thought it said the season for steelhead and salmon was october, one was the 15th and the other at the end. Back to searching. what is the best time to fish for both?

steelhead fishing

some of the best steelhead fishing can be done in oct / nov! salmon is open in hells canyon not sure when it closes.

if you want some good fishing near Grangville you can go either go down to hammer creek on the salmon or over to pink house on the clear water by orfino.

shrimp is the ticket this time of year, or use a bobber and jig. go to sportsmans they should be able to set you up.

good luck

Steelhead starts August 15th in Idaho, September 1st in Washington

B-run is late October-November bigger fish but not nearly the numbers of the A-run fish that run late august thru september. Don't get me wrong, there is still great steelhead fishing you just probably won't limit in 2 hours like we were in september.
