Idaho Falls area

Hello All,
I just sold my house and am being transferred to Idaho Falls. I curently have a short track Rev. I'm going to bring it cause I see lots of groomed trails to ride. I would like to get a long track as well, but would like to be able to use it on trails if needed. What is a good length for both? Also, any info on this area would be great. Any good MX tracks? 1 more question, what is better for out there? EFI or Carb?
Thank you
Paul P.

sell the shorty before you move, you wont want it out here, nor will anyone else, better dollar value before you move.

pick up a 144-155 and start having fun off trail, because im certain after 1 or 2 rides you wont be on the trail anymore. :)

I.F. is a pretty good area. Agree with Phatty 100%. Dump the shorty and just get into a mountain sled. Once you ride around here you'll want a deep snow capable sled even if you aren't banging hills. There is a MX track about 10 miles west of I.F. iirc. There is also the Pocatello MX track by the Pocatello Airport (about 50 minute drive south). EFI would be my choice after riding both, but you can run most newer carbed sleds all over without tinkering much if they are already set up for around 8-10k ft.

Hit me up if you're interested in a well-priced stock sled. My Freeride needs a new owner and would make a great ride. And welcome to the SW family!

X3 sell the shorty for more $ now. Efi 153/155 w set of scratchers then go ride and you'll never look back..

1. Sell the short track Rev, you won't want it once your here and you will get more for it back there.

2. Buy an EFI, will make your life easier for altitude changes, and we have LOTS of altitude out here.

3. Go with a medium length mountain track (152-155) range.
Once you get into the steep and deep, there is just no turning back.
You're going to fall in love with mountain riding!!:face-icon-small-hap

4. Welcome to Idaho brother.
You're in for a whole new kind of riding!

SOLD THE SHORTY, I'll be in my new House next Monday and looking for another sled. I'll be in the Idaho Falls area, so if anyone has a decent sled I'd be interested. I have found some nice ones on CL I'll go look at right away. Anyone here from that area want to take an experienced flat-lander Mountain riding? I catch on quick. I'd rather learn from someone than wing it and get myself or someone else hurt. I'd also like info on Avalanche training and any Gear that is needed out west.
Thank you
Paul

You have slipped and tripped and landed into one of the best riding areas you could ask for. Welcome home!

ALso check KSL.com It is a local on line classifieds from SLC to Island Park. Lots of sled s on there .. Good Luck and Welcome to the neighborhood !!

What's your budget and brand preference?

Budget, depends on the sled. I have owned all makes of sleds. Most recent sleds have been Doo's and I have had really good luck with them. I would prefer another Ski Doo.

My advice would be to look for a mostly stock m8, not a doo, they are solid sleds, and you can find them easy at a real good price. They are easy to wrench on, easy to ride, have bullet proof motors, and are very capable. I have numberous doos and cats, and now ride polaris and if any of my friends were looking for a mountain sled in the say $5000 range I would strongly encourage them to get an m8

Hello All,
I made it and am getting settled in. Idaho Falls, Ammon area. I found a 2013 ski Doo 800 154 track.. Now what? I need to learn some things now. Looking for someone to help me get this sled set up and give me some pointers. Any help would be great.

Well... You sure found a great sled. The only tips I have are.. Disconnect the sway bars, you are no longer a trail rider, and never look at a trail as riding anymore, think of it more as the little bit of suffering you have to do to get into heaven.

PM Racer220. He runs Doos and competes in the Hillclimb circuit and can probably help you out. I do believe he is in Blackfoot. Worth a shot anyway.

I know quite a bit about Skidoos. You can PM me with any questions. There are a few stiffeners and brackets I would suggest.
