I think things in harms way should be sold as singles instead of pairs. Break one of the pair. Buy a new pair. Break same side again. Damn! Broken ice scratcher (not in reverse!). 1/4" round stock from lumber yard. Bend it to fit. Thread the end of broken scratcher and replacement piece with Die. Connect the two pieces with double end nut. Total cost 8$. Worked just fine yesterday.
