Has anyone used an ice ripper xt track for 146 xm? Researching my spring order plans so I can ride it in mn also. Had a 13 xm and on hard pack trails with scratchers down outwest had to be behind a few guys to cool sled down.

Not sure why you would have trouble. I ride a 146, and 154 in MN with no troubles. Now I also have a 163 T3 that I will ride some here when the family goes out as a group. Not worried about it either.

For my 154 build I'm going to go with the 1.6 cobra for the Midwest as I don't want/need to burn up a 2.5" or 3" here. Like FEZ said I never had a problem with the longer sleds, just drop the scratchers if it gets a little warm and temps stay low. Plus I never liked studs and I would assume that the ice ripper track is like riding with studs?

I had the 1.352" pre studded cobra on my 2011 146 summit. It was night and day better on the trail/lake than the stock track. Stoping was incredible with the small studs. I would do that track in a heartbeat on another 146!

Did you get something? or are you thinking for next year?

I am gonna snowcheck a 146 freeride. I was about to pm u on that track thanks, what brand was it again? So when u guys say you ride with 2.5 paddles on mn trails r u putting in 100 plus days or just playing here and there.

That also sounds like a great idea! Was leaning toward a 154 but wanna b able to ride it here 100 mi trips with my dad. It must work pretty well eh?

When I set out on my last build (which is on it's last year this season as I'm due for an upgrade). I needed a true "every condition sled". the build was an experiment for me to see if I could build a long track sled that could put a 1,000+ trail miles a year while still giving me a sled that I loved off trail and out west. My problem was that I only wanted one sled to do it all and I just like to ride with lots of different people in lots of varying conditions. A few times a season I hook up with some die hard trail riding family members. The types that put on 200 - 300 miles per day blasting trails. Most of my Midwest riding is off trail wondering in northern MN and the UP of Michigan so I wanted a long track for those areas. Then I wanted a sled that I could take out west a few times a year for a week at a time and not be holding me back.

So for the first build I settled on a 151 REV. I gave it the wide front end (no sway bar). Upgraded all of suspension and all of the "ergos" to personal preference. In the Midwest I run a 151x15x1.5 Camoplast Crossover Track. When I go out west I swap out the track, Gearing and clutch weights. I can do the swap in a couple hours now all by myself and might switch it a couple times a season depending on how the trips layout and snow conditions here in the Midwest. Some years we have good snow here so the 2" track just stays on.

I have spent weeks on this out west and its a blast in the deep snow. I'm not a huge hill climber so it's not designed for that. But it does everything in the mtns I have asked and I have had many days of 300 miles on it with my family and would not trade those memories for anything. I just had the motor rebuild at 8,900 miles (first time it was touched). So with that said my next build is going to be done about the same but based upon on a 154 Summit. 1.6" Cobra track for the Midwest and the 2.5 or 3 for out west. It will get a belt drive to make the track changes & gearing easier. I have a few other items that I'm going to try on the next one that I learned from this build. There will be a build thread on it but pretty much everything this one is getting will be bolt on vs the custom work done on the last one.

Sled at the cabin last season
