Ice Build up in Tunnel

I'm am getting huge ice build up in the tunnels of my phazer and nitro by the end of the day when riding in powder. I'm talking huge chunks. It takes me two days to get it thawd out enough to clean up the sled. I am going riding for a week in Island Park next week and I'm looking for sollutions. Is this normal? What about on other sleds? What do you do about it?

Two words:

Better Boards

$165 for natural aluminum
$215 for black or blue powder coated

He said tunnel. But he also said nytro & phazer. However, the running boards are an issue too. F-Bomb, I'd buy a set of your boards in a heart beat for my wifes phazer but I don't think you make them?? One reason you may not (a guess)... is to get effective snow removal off the boards on a phazer is you may have to cut some plastic at the very front of the footwell where the side panels wrap underneath. yes/no?

I am talking about inside the tunnel on both machines. I can live with the ice on the running boards, I just clean them off more often. What I'm worried about is consecutive days of riding when the inside of the tunnel has huge chunks of ice fronzen next to the track on both sides (of the inside of the tunnel). Ideas?

how bad is it??? With my 900 I used a special marine wax that worked great last all season.

aurora was the name of it. Not sure what kind if I remember they started making a snow-plow wax but I can't find it?? Was on the old snowest forum.

Is there a hole in the tunnel to cool the exhaust? Close it... No questions asked. I did it on my phazer and my boards are almost snow free. Before it would get so iced up, that within an hour, the outside cheese graters would no longer have traction, and that was in marginal snow. Close the hole. Rivit a piece of alum. and call it aday.

The Better Boards are a must have. Rode with mine today for the first time. decent pow and no snow buildup. Plus the footwells stay clear.

I have a set of Better Boards on my wife's Nytro... it is a must have. Rode on a nice base with about 2' of fresh on top on Saturday. No buildup on the rails or tunnel.
As for the Apex I don't think it will happen. The cooling for the radiator runs under the rails so there is no room to install the boards.

Rob the pics turned out great. I really like the black ones mounted on that Nytro. I think you're right, the powder coated ones don't let snow stick to them.

Before our sleds get put to bed for the night either trailer 99% of the time or left out we pick them up and violantly lift and drop them several times to break out the buildup in the tunnel extensions. Also before you ever ride a sled or move one even in trailer after it's been frozen lift and drop from the rear bumper then sqaush the rear suspension a couple times. Free em up that way and save your belts!

and yep the ride reports on Yamaha Nytro's with Better Boards are rolling in. ALL GOOD!
