i wanna wire in some tunes on my rmk

So basically I have this itty bitty iPod...maybe a nano or something, I dunno. I have to wire the charger directly into the sled since the iPod will only run for like 2 hours before it needs a recharge. So it either has to charge off my laptop or the deck in my pickup since it has a USB port. The charger for it is has a USB end obviously. The end of the USB plug has 4 terminals and I'm wondering which two are my hots. Oh, and it can't get more than 5 volts. Discuss...

Thanks

Use a cigarette lighter Ipod charger and wire in a receptacle to the sled. Then you can use any 12v accessories. The also make cigarette lighter USB chargers.

ive seen portable chargers that are just run off batteries. My cousin has one and says it works great, but im not sure who makes it

I use the clip on Ipod shuffle, clip it on the chest strap of my backpack. Run it all day and have never had it die no matter how cold it is. Easy to control it, turn it off and on, volume, ect. with gloves on. I love it. Probably one of my best purchases for riding. And it was only like $50.00

That's great.

I do have a few different 12v outlets on my BMW motorcycle, to power the heated vest, phone, helmet cam, etc.

Better get a retractable cord or mount a hard storage case on the machine while riding.

I thought I had read somewhere mp3/other electronic devices can mess up beacons making it longer to find you?

Anyway the cig. power should do the trick.

It IS advised to keep other electronic devices away from your beacon. Most manuals (if not all) that come with your beacon will say that.

I think I have the same Ipod, it's pretty small and has a clip on it made of aluminum. But it only lasts like 2 hrs. on a charge. I'm gonna take a trip down to radio shack and see what they have.

My post.

Is worthless without the pics.

Please don't run into any other riders because you don't hear them comming, stay away from the steep slopes for that matter.

What?

Dang, I thought this post was going to be about wiring in a speaker system on your sled, like a harley or something lol ghey..

Just buy the ipod shuffle. Cheaper and easier than buying a DC accesory outlet, wiring that into your sled, then getting a car charger for it.

If you rode a DOO the rotax would be all the music you need. :D

yeah I guess so...seemed like a stupid idea anyways. The pipes are gonna be pretty damn loud so I was thinking of something besides ear plugs. I once saw a helmet that had speakers wired inside of it! But it was a full face touring helmet.

ToBe used to make a motocross style helmet that had speakers wired into it. I've been thinking about doing something kind of like that to my helmet. Cause I like music when I'm riding but hate having earbuds in with my helmet on.
