I thought the 780 billion was supposed to cure this??

Yep, Bush really screwed your country up...

Gee, and here I thought OBAMA was the president?
Wasn't Obama the one that redirected the 700 billion in TARP money and used it to bail out the unions?
Wasn't it Obama that demanded we pass the 787 billion dollar stimulus package to "save america". Ya know, the money that no one knows where it went or what it is being spent on.
Wasn't it Obama that passed a 410 billion dollar spending bill with over 9000 earmarks after swearing he would veto any bill containing ear marks.
Wasn't it Obama that passed the 257 billion dollar home owner bailout.
Wasn't it Obama that passed the 3.6 TRILLION dollar budget?
Isn't it Obama that is trying to pass socialistic medical coverage costing more than 25% of the entire GNP of the US, that is unless of cource he can't get his crazy number of new taxes thru.
Isn't it Obama that is trying to send over 100,000 Chrysler jobs overseas to China so they can be more competitive, even after he swore we had to bail out Chrysler to save america jobs.

yep, it's all Bush's fault.

where did all that money go??? chrysler and gm are both losing their @sses and haven't they been bailed out several times??? and if the housing bill went through, how come over 56% of the homeowners in the small town of evanston going belly up and selling their homes to pay back 3/4 of what they owe?? and WHY AM I STILL BROKE AND OUT OF WORK!?!?!?! BULL F***ING SH*T!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

It does not matter which president is in now really, the mess happened well before bush left. whoever is in power has the NOW responsibility to clean up the mess...

Anyone hear of sub prime lending fiasco? well before the present prez.

Bush agreed the 700 billion was needed.. when he was in power.

Somebody get ollie some snow...:)

There is no carpet large enough to sweep the past under. Time to spend money towards getting consumer confidence back. but first the country needs a boost. That is what is happening.

If the banks took the hit, the country would suffer to a non recoverable financial hit, thus dragging down the entire economy... because the banks own the most, whether or not you think you own your new escalade, that you just financed,,, or the home you got a mortgage for... the bank owns it.. That's how big the picture is. The money has to come from somewhere, the tax payers.

Same with the auto industry. Way too many peoples' livelihoods are at stake if the auto sector goes under...not just factory workers, or dealerships but their employees, parts makers, tire manufacturers, plastic companies, metal industry, paint industry..electronics industries it all trickles down to every citizen... even the lunch wagon lady..What else can be done?

ya gotta change the sheets, cuz their soiled..and someone has to pay. The tax payer unfortunately.

EVERYTHING that is going on right now with the economy is a farce. Nothing but greed as far as you can see. Obama is absolutely the crookedest person in America as far as im concerned. All this money being thrown around like its monopoly is doing NOTHING. NOTHING. Wheres all the jobs being created by this so called economic stimulus. I tell you right now its making someone rich and it isnt you and I. Every politician that voted for it should be thrown in jail. Its absolutely bullsh!t that there was no accountability for this money. ARRGGGG.

He's not the only one with snow.

How exactly did Bush run the economy into the ground? The economy survived 911, and New "Flood" Orleans, and the war. But, when congress went socialist, hummm, that's about the exact time the economy took a dump.

My guess as to what really happened is this, a loss of confidence in future business investment. Business could see Liberals gaining power. Liberals don't equal profit. Health care, environmental, more taxes, there's really no reason to invest in this country anymore. Several countries offer tax free corporate headquarters, and lack rules.

A housing bubble that burst. You really want to blame that on Bush, don't think so. He may not have done enough to stop it. But, congress was rowing that boat.

The war dragged on, and oil prices spiked. Oil prices are what killed Carter, really. Him being an idiot didn't help.

I blame Bush for the housing bubble, like a give credit to Clinton for the internet bubble. The only thing both presidents did, was not get in the way. Oh, and remember, the internet bubble crash would have been just as bad, had the housing bubble not taken over.

Another view.

In fairness to Marcuso, he is correct. This all started before Obama.
However, it also started before Bush.
It really started under Clinton. The economy was headed down hill the last year and a half before Clinton left office. When the Tech market inploded the economy started down hill. Clinton did everything in his power to hide the fact from the public till AFTER the election in an attempt to get another Dem in the white house. If you go back and do a little research you will find that the day Bush took office the dems started screaming that the economy was headed south and it was all Bush's fault. The day he took office.
So yes, the economy going south isn't Obama's fault.
The national debt, the unemployment, the reckless spending, the socialization of the US, that is all his fault.
Despite what the media is trying to do, when you take over as president of the united states, you take on the headaches that go with it.

Obama has done everything in his power to blame his spending us into bankrupcy on Bush. What you never did hear was Bush (who was also within his right) blaming Clinton for the financial mess he inherated (sp?).
Why?
Bush at least had class. He may have been a moron, but at least he was upfront and honest about what he was doing and what the end game was.
Obama, not so much.
Obama is very much a "Pass the buck" kind of guy.

So much for "tendrals of a growing economy".

Here is the EXACT same thing they did in Italy. The program FAILED miserably there, so lets do it here. Gotta love politics. "we know it won't work, but it will make you think we are doing something positive".

Michigan unemployment reaches 12.9 percent in April
Associated Press
Lansing -- Michigan's unemployment rate rose to 12.9 percent in April, its highest mark since late 1983.

The state said Wednesday that Michigan's seasonally adjusted jobless rate was pushed up by large job losses in manufacturing and construction.

Last month's jobless rate was the highest in Michigan since unemployment reached 13 percent in November 1983. Michigan's jobless rate in March, 12.6 percent, already was highest in the nation.

The national unemployment rate rose from 8.5 percent in March to 8.9 percent in April.

"Michigan's difficult labor market patterns continued in April," Rick Waclawek, director of the state's Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, said in a statement.

A year ago, Michigan's April unemployment rate was 7.9 percent. But it has been rising fairly steadily ever since and is projected to go even higher, in part mirroring problems in the domestic auto industry.

Economists from the Michigan Treasury Department and the House and Senate Fiscal agencies last week reached a consensus that state unemployment could average as much as 14 percent this year and 15.3 percent in 2010.

Michigan lost about 38,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in April. About 22,000 of those jobs were in manufacturing and another 9,000 were in construction. About 3,000 jobs were lost in retail trade.

Government was the only broad employment category to add jobs in Michigan last month, with a net increase of about 2,000 jobs. Employment in professional and business services remained steady.

:o I honestly cant get over how bad it has gotten here in the last 9 weeks, They say michigan was the first state to get into trouble & would be the first to get out & recover........... It bad & getting worse:confused:
