I noticed something this weekend

First off, this is not a bashing thread at all. I had chance to try out a 2011 800 E-Tek this weekend , as well as an 800 M, I have an 08 Apex MTX. I was not impressed with either of these sleds, they both seemed to be flat (not much power) Is it because of the difference in torque with the 4 stroke? And as weird as this sounds the E-Tek felt front heavy, and hard to steer, the Mfelt better but my Apex is way easier, maybe because it is what I am use to, I only tried them out in a big field type area, just little hills, I know when it comes to steep hills that both these sleds will out perform the Apex. But whenever I try 2 stroke sled it just reminds me how much I like my Apex.

Powerwise - I think what you are used to is the broad HP/TQ curve on the Apex - 2 strokes usually have a much narrower powerband - they make just as much power, but over a narrower RPM range.

As you mentioned a stock 800 2 stroke will destroy a stock Apex hilclimbing - but a good rider on an Apex can boondock all day long with an 800 2 stroke. On hardpack snow the Apex rider will be more worn out at the end of the day fighting a very heavy sled. But if riding powder all day the Apex is easier to ride than on hardpack snow - and the rider will not be as worn out.

One other note. If the 2smoke is a couple years old bring a tow strap, the Apex is great to get it back to the shop....

I think its several things as said earlier. The four stroke has awesome torque phazer is prime example only 80 horse but is impressive for its size. And then what your used to. I consider the apex to fall more along the old style chassis that were not a rider forward design. When skidoo went to the rev it took me a good half dozen rides to get used to it now I couldn't go back. You just have to ride them for awile. I'm wanting to get a 4 stroke myself because of the statement earlier, if its two years old bring a strap to tow it back if your on a 2 stroke. Also they all are heavy as hell once their stuck.

Again, whitout bashing anything, what makes the 2 strokes climb that much better than the Apex. I mean with the wider power range, theoretically it should be close anyways, they are all pretty close power wise arent they? Is it mostly weight? I think I read somewhere that a Camo Extreme track and a programmer is all you really need to compete with the 2 strokes?
