I never thought I would be on of those people...(Poor customer service problem)

that get on here and dog a company for bad service but I'm really frusturated. A few years ago I got one of the first long cables from Gravity Worx for my edge. In fact, if you look on there website there is a picture of my sled with the cable on it. About a month ago my throttle cable broke so I decided to replace it with a new one. I ordered online from Gravity Worx, then called Darren to make sure he got my order, he did and said it would be shipped that day Monday Jan 19th I think that was the date. Come Friday I still don't have it so I start trying to call and leave message on phone and PM on snowest. Finally the next week I call again and he admitted he forgot to ship it and apologized. OK, I miss a weekend of riding but I'll live and it's all cool. I finally get the cable around Jan 28th. A week later we leave for a trip to Island Park. 2nd day out in IP my new cable breaks inside the housing. Buddy and I do some serious jerry-rigging to get it to work the rest of the trip. Pic of how I had to ride...
(yes that is a visegrip taped to my throttle)

I get back from IP and send him a PM Monday Feb 9th saying what happened and pics. Darren responds back on Tuesday Feb 10th and say's sorry and I will get one right out to you. Hey no problem..chit happens. Well.....Guess what, it's now Feb 19th and I still have no cable and missed another weekend of riding and tomorrow is Friday and will miss another weekend. I have left message and sent PM's. Am I wrong to get upset and get on here and type this? Is it my responsibilty to continue to followup until I get it? I don't get upset easy but feel like I'm really being treated poorly. In this day and age customer service means everything and I'm not being taken care of. Anybody else sell long cables? I know powermadd sells the junction box but that isn't a "clean" look that I like. Todd

Pretty much any shop that is a WPS dealer has access to throttle cables. WPS carries them for the edge rmk as well as the vertical escape, which is a little bit longer. They are $23.95. I can help you out w/ one if you don't find one locally. PM me if you need one.
Thanks,
Jeremy

That is frustrating, weekends are limited in this sport. I have only heard good things about GW, might not hurt to give them another chance. I have the power madd junction box and it works great. I do wish I would have went with the GW, but my local dealer had what I needed and I am not patient enough to wait.
BTW, cudo's on the vice grip idea, your a true sled head, nothin gonna stop you from having fun.....beers to ya.:beer;:beer;

Not wanting to get into that part of this... but did want to say 2 thumbs and 2 big toes up for that freaking cool McGyver job! HOLY COW that rocks... ;) (sorry you had to do it though....)

I read your story, and I'm a bit amiffed for you. Missing 3 weekends is unacceptable for a freakin cable issue. What's with the "Oh I forgot"?

He may have been on top of it in the past, but to forget twice to ship your order. He's slipping. It's time he has a come to jesus meeting with himself, before he looses his means to make a living.

You may have to figure out a more agile / temporary fix.

Todd... wish I would have known this, I would have taken mine off and sent it to you. I am stuck in flatlander hell for a couple more weeks...

On another note, did yours have a hard pull? Mine seems like you almost have to, two fist it... crap, my buddies tripple pulls way easier...

Nice job with the Vice Grip by the way.. you should send them the pic, maybe they would send you some free schwaag...

BTW... dont do the powermadd extension, they can freeze up...

your throttle cable is probably routed with too sharp of bends. route it with as little sharp bends as possible.

Thanks, there was quite a bit more to it than the pics...was a good fix. We did all this with 2 Leatherman utility knifes. We were just headed out when my throttle cable broke. Inside the junction box the little tip that crimps on the end of the cable came off. We split the junction box in half and took the cable out then we took the T part that hooks to the throttle lever and filed it down to fit inside the junction box. We then taped the junction box back up with electrical tape and then threaded cable back through the cable housing up towards the throttle. With no end on the cable and nothing to hold it to the throttle we drilled a small hole in the actual throttle lever and pulled cable through that hole and pinched it with a needle nose vise grip and taped it up...rode it all day like that!

I tried a straight shot and everything. Think I am just gonna have to hit the juice and shrivvle up the boys...

I am going to try adjusting the carbs.

Yeah Justin, mine has a pretty hard pull also and it's routed very straight..and thanks for the tip on the powermadd..you know me I like it simple looking and clean and that powermadd just doesn't cut it for me.

I am not sure at all if this would have worked. But someone on the 4m once suggested that a screw on tip to a spark plug could be crimped onto a cable end in an emergency.

On a carb model I've taken the choke cables apart and spliced one of them into the throdle in the past.Cold starting is a nightmare as you have to hand choke it but it will work.

powermadd

granted the powermadd junction box doesnt look as good as a nice clean cable but i have been riding with one for two years and havent missed a weekend because of it. never had any freezing troubles or nothing. i am not saying it is the way to go but if it keeps you riding might be worth a try. sleds only look good when they are on the snow and moving in my opinion.

I've had nothing but problems with my powermadd blocks... tried them dry, tried them greased, either way they break on me. Just ordered a gravity worx cable, hope this isn't a common problem as I haven't heard anybody else having problems with them..

I hope it works out for you...

But I don't have a lot of sympathy for you missing 3 weeks right now. LOL :)

Hows about 2 full seasons?????????????????

My new crank went down on March 23rd after only 150 miles. Guess what....I STILL don't have my sled back in my shop.

Yes, I sent Darrin another PM yesterday and he responded back today saying he had sent the new cable but USPS must have lost it. Said he would send another one today...we'll see I guess. I had a local guy in town here build me a longer top end to the stock polaris cable and joined them at the junction box...I'll use Gravity Worx as a back up in my pack.

Scott...I hear ya on the crank deal. I lost mine early this year, just to get it replaced then go down again a week later. You want good customer service, use INDYDAN on here. That guy knows how to take care of his bread and butter (customers, cause without us buying your stuff you ain't in bidness). I won't go into the whole story but that guy went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for and we aren't talking about a $60 dollar throttle cable, we're talking $$$$ worth of motor and clutches.
