No all inclusive but I've been to Hawaii the past 2 years. Oahu once and Maui once....preferred Maui for a more chill atmosphere, although more north on Oahu is great too. Waikiki/Honolulu is a big city....fun party, but very busy. Better waves on Oahu. Call me unadventurous, but it was nice to NOT have language barrier and be comfortable renting a car and drive around as per normal.
I've done all inclusives on the west and east coasts of Mexico (PV and Cancun), both were nice, and have good waves, just get the nicest resort you can afford if you want to do all inclusive. A 4 star in Mexico is not a 4 star in Canada from my experience. Just like Hawaii, decide if you want to be in or out of the city/resort areas....big difference in atmosphere/activities.
If you like different foods/local stuff, the all-inclusive thing is not the best choice. They are the easiest and cheapest, and the food was fine....just nothing memorable y'know? Handy if you are drunk the whole time....which I was.
