I need a un-biased ford and dodge truck opinion

I know that this made seems silly to some but it's one of the factors that I'm considering between 2 trucks. Can anyone tell me what of a 08+ dodge and ford (but ccsb) which ones rides better (stock) and which one turns sharper.
The turning radius is a bigger factor to me then the ride.
I would post this on a truck forum but then it would be a more biases opinion.

Thanks guys

Coming from a 03 ccsb dmax stock.
Please don't turn this into a bashing tread. I understand the power and other thing will be different. Which ever truck I get will be fully deleted, chip, exhaust, lift on 37x13.50x24 (maybe 22's) etc. I just want to hear about ride and turning radius. Thanks again

well when i was test drive them my kids rode in the back both trucks were 3/4 ton short boxes and they said the dodge had a better ride so that what i ended up going with that time~ but I own both Ford and Dodge trucks~

if you plan on buying a stock truck with emissions still intact, and deleting it yourself.............you better do some hard core research on whats going on with the delete-enabled tuners this day and age.

Why are you worried about which truck rides better stock if you're going to lift it and put mud tires on it anyway?

And what ford are you looking at? 6.4 or 6.7?

I'm failing to see why you are choosing a vehicle over the turning radius???? Maybe give us some more insight in what you will be using it for, your future goals, price range, load capacity needed, passenger capacity needed, mpg hopes, etc...

Good question. I'm gonna keep it bone stock for a few maybe 6 months. I guess I'm more concerned with how sharp it turns. Planning on a carli lift so the ride after will be good.

The main reason for the questions is because I'd rather buy a ford but I haven't driven one in a while. Last one I did it drove like a ole 3 ton or a tank.
My buddy has a Dodge cclb (08) and it turns sharper then my dmax cccsb.

I'm planning on driving both obviously. Just like opinions.

Stock the ford will probably ride better, with carli they should ride the same, which that is a helluva choice in suspension too! Which kit? I'm looking at the 2.5 pintop with kings for my 12 cummins. As for the rest of the pickup, if you delete both they will probably get nearly the same mileage, fords auto is much stronger, cummins motor is definitely more proven, interior of ford is probably nicer, backseat of ford is definitely nicer, if you do a 10 or up dodge, I believe the ram has a nicer pickup interior and exterior. Sorry that's as unbiased as I can be. Good luck with the purchase! And post some pics or it didn't happen!

My friend has a 08 Megacab Shortbox 2500 and I had a 08 Crewcab Shortbox F250. I would say the ride was pretty comparable, I thought my seats were more comfortable but that is opinion but his mega cab has a lot more room. As far as turning radius I thought they were about the same both better then a GM. As far as engine and transmission MPG, and power I would take his Dodge cummins over the 6.4L in the ford. I had zero issues with my 6.4L but his got better mileage and seemed to have more power. I know have a 2011 F250 with a 6.7L and he agrees that it has more power and better mileage then his dodge cummins. Although his 08 is the newest I have drove.

given the fact that deleting these diesels is on the way out the door, the stock ford will get much better mileage pulling and empty (in respect to the 6.7s). like i said, do some research on the tuner companies that make delete tunes (H&S, edge, smarty, etc...) you will see that the government sewed them and they can no longer sell delete tuners. you may be able to find one online, but the price gouging is ridiculous. H&S calls their delete tuners "race" tuners. i purchased my whole delete package with a $900 tuner for less than they are getting for JUST the tuner now. after those "race" tuners on the distributors shelves are gone, they are gone.

there are alot of nice things on the fords, but what drove me away is they cannot make a good engine and stick to it. the dodge 6.7 is pretty much their proven 5.9 bored out to a 6.7 (with alot of emissions crap bolted on to it). they are a great truck once the emissions stuff is gone.

if i knew 2 years ago what i know now, i probably would have gotten a ford. so far their engines have been holding up (stock and modified), their tranny's are holding BIG power. they seem like a great vehicle. if ford would have had a proven motor, for at least a couple years, back when i bought my dodge in 2011, i would have a ford in my garage now.

The manufacturers should all have a measurement for the turning radius listed either on their websites, in their brochures, or both. Or just google it if not.

TBH....once you put 37x13.50's on it and lift to accommodate, I doubt they'll turn as sharp as factory anyways. So those 2 priorities seem to be conflicting....

X2, the turning radius is more dependent on tire size and obstructions to clearance. No personal expirence with the two mentioned trucks but the lift kit manufacture should have that information available. Seeing as that is your highest ranking criteria that is the phone call and question that will send you off in the right direction or change your priority criteria to something more substantial.

Guessing you must spend a fair amount of time on the logging roads or offload for turning radius to be that high on your list. Good luck, hope this was helpful.

I think a dodge crew shortbed would be your best turning radius. Cab in a ford in longer. If you went mega cab on dodge then it would probly be a little worse than standard crew in ford.

It's really sad when a manufacture makes a truck that you HAVE to remove the cab n front fenders to work on the eng .But it really makes a good paycheck when changin a 35.00 part has has over 20hrs labor

Incorrect information was contained in this post, it is quoted and corrected in subsequent posts. Thanks to those who called me on it, and provided proof it was / is an urban legend, that Ford owned Cummins. As per the link provided it is not true.

Not to mention they have owned Cummins for years and are selling them to Dodge rather than using them in their own trucks. All the while buying their Diesel engines from someone else. Good business? I wouldn't think so. Sorry back to OP'ers inquiry. Rant over!

Ford does not own Cummins and never has. Cummins is a publicly traded company, and Ford did buy many shares of that to keep Cummins afloat. They were stock holders at one time but no longer are. Never had any decision making power in the Cummins Corp at any time.

Been hearing this stupid rumor about Ford taking over the Cummins engine for their super dutys for 10 years probably.

Simply not true
