I messed up

It has been very cold down here for awhile now. I went to start my sled which I have to store outside (with covers & tarp over) and it did not start at all. I changed plugs and still now go. Put tarp over it and heated it for 3 hours or so. It started up fine. Went inside to let it idle and I was in there too long (didn't seem that long, but I knew better not to do that). Went back out and the sled sounded funny. The high temp gauge light was one and all the coolant had boiled out.

I shut it down ( all the while think my sled is done) My buddy came out and after it cooled down we put some coolant in it. Only took a little bit for the coolant level to register. Filled it up, started it back up. Coolant went down again. Shut it down again and coolant level rose back up. Topped it off with coolant and started it back up. I ran it around the yard and it sounded normal to me and ran fine.

Do you think I damaged the engine though?

only by the Grace of God you didn;t....on warm engine pull plugs and hold throttle wide open and pull starter cord 3 or 4 time with compression guage installed..if compression approx 115 and over your ok

i had that happen to me last year. i had a bad ring on top of the cylinder inbetween the head and cylinders. coolant was running into the motor. I just put a new ring in it and the coolant didnt leak anymore. while the coolant was going through the engine it smoked like a sob and was real sluggish
