at Shelton, WA. Airport. There are some things you wish you could unsee. My heart and Prayers go out to his Family and Friends. I Instantly called 911 and got the response team enroute. but he was pronounced dead on Scene. his chute collapsed on final approach about 150' AGL.

No Photos, No Video so it did not happen.

On the serious side; It is very rare, but it sucks all the same. I remember the instructor saying the odds were better to get struck by lightning than to have a shoot fail, back when I was learning the art. Skydiving is one of very few things that the individual participant has total control over the out come, assuming they pack their own shoot.

Our thoughts and prayers to the family / next of kin.

Our instructor told us that our odds were better jumping than staying in the plane.

Prayers to his family.

I'd never want to see a dude bounce. I've got a buddy who is a skydiver and every summer he was around someone who bounced, as they call it.

When they bounce, it's around 4 to 5 FEET back into the air and it makes a nasty sound.

NASTY.

Trust me.
Hitting the ground is absolutely NOT the worst way for a jumper to die...

Well it's an instant death, but the anticipation is going to be brutal...all the way down.
Then your shins splinter into your throat and you're dead.

Most guys with NO chute will land in the "Stable Position".
More or less FLAT/horizontal for minimum speed.
Some actually survive such impacts.
Its rare, but it does happen from time to time.

he landed on his side

I think He may have been better off, landing feet first. but it was a terrible Sounds and was worse to see in Person.

I think I would much rather bounce than have the static line / shoot get hung up on the the plane and get beaten to death before anybody notices or can do anything about it. I have heard some really gory stories of that happening.

Never really understood the militaries rationale on the whole static line thing.
