Must be a Ford thing, I did it to a 90 F350 it ended up about 80 yds down hill.

my bro's wife did it with her Ford Escort on the same driveway. but it went all the way down and just barely missed my bro's grain truck. she left it in 3rd gear instead of 1st. went right through fathers flower garden, and ruined his rose bush

Kinda had the same thing happen to me only in reverse
Guy wanted to use my truck to haul some stuff.
Told him to pick it up at work and bring it back.
He came in and I gave him the keys.
I knew he was able to drive a standard so there shouldn't have been a problem.
Look out the back window a little while later and saw a huge cloud of smoke??????????????????
Went out to check it out and smelled it.
Burn't clutch. F.......................ck.
I run up and he tells me it won't move.
Ask him did you take off the parking brake?
He tells me no one uses the parking brake, why would I check it.
Had to replace the clutch pressure plate and surface the flywheel.
