Last week, for a few minutes, I realized what it must be like to ride an XP!

I had been holding it to the chicken for about 12 miles down a lake running between 105 and 110 on the speedo. (Try that with an 800R ;)) All of a sudden WHACK.

I had to pull the secondary apart on the spot to get the cords out. :D My ZX used to chew through belts religiously, but i never demolished one this bad. This one had 3000+ miles on it.. so it had done it's time. I was lucky to get 800 out of a belt on my last sled.

I'm on my 5th belt in 1,600 miles on my MTX. They burn em like anything else. At least they're $50 less than the Doo belt.

The Nytro turbos do eat belts that is a fact but my TRX1 never did until last weekend-- the belt had all last season on it and I used it drag-racing spooling the turbo on the brake 2 weekends in a row than got lazy didn't change it out and blew it up on a very steep 1/2 mile pull up a glacier - called the wall.
Usually I run a belt 1 season except for drags and than move it down the line as spare or drag belt.
So it can be done but you have to really try on the 4 bangers with gear reduction.

Take the windage plates off that secondary. That's gotta be a first! ;)

They are the toughest belt I've ever seen. In my last XC race I wrecked and caved in the inner plastic panel that covers the clutches. This allowed in wet snow and water. I rode the last 66 miles of the race with my belt slipping like mad, squealing, grinding and allowing the motor to bounce off the rev limiter. The belt never blew but it wore and became quite skinny. At the end of the race I pulled my side panel off and the secondary was 1/3 the way buried in snow!

hate to say it to a fellow yami rider but your clutchin sucks:eek: I have 1800 on mine an cept for leavin the hood off in 2 ft of pow:confused: and suckin some white stuff :oI would still be on my first belt. Was kinda fun tho that big wwhhhhiiiizzzzzz when the belt slips( never felt that before) and then grab.:D....slip.....grab :D and then bham gone...Damn :mad:had to use my spare....looks worse than yours.....wanna sell that one??????

The clutching is mostly stock. I would guess most of it is from riding WFO for entire days in waist deep snow. I've had a lot of rides where I only get 35 miles to a tank of gas. I also don't break them in and our snow is fairly wet and heavy.

I'm with Niko... I blew my first belt at 500km, always pinned the belt will heat up. I have my 3rd belt on it this season. This is exceptable to me because i know how i treated these belts. when snow is deep and you abuse the belt for hrs it will fail. I have had a lot of sleds and this is always the case. My polaris 800 could easily eat a belt a day when abused, take care of it and candy a$$ around you can get 1000 miles on a belt. Two diffrent guys with diffrent riding styles will get totally diffrent results on a belt.

I'm with MCX Nytro on this one. Must be alignment or slippage issues. I blew up my first belt on my turboed Nytro at 950 km & only because I got oil on it when I laid it over on its side for a while.I now have 800 km on second belt & still looks good.

wow thats good...

mine blew on a straight away.... 5000 almost on it.... do mainly boondocking and powder turns.....no mountains here.... just hills... no its pined when playing in the snow...... but you guys have to hold it pined... most of the time... would have gotten more if i had stayed on the trails.... my wifes attack belt looks bran new....the climbing really beats those belts.....

I got 650 miles out of the first one before it blew up like that. Bent my clutch gaurd and wound around beween the motor and drive clutch. Needed a clutch puller with me. It took two hours to get it all out. Dinged the seal and had to have it replaced. Hope I don't have to go through that again.
