Went to the dealership today to see if they had any new information regarding the shafts. The owner told me that Polaris is sending out new shafts to the dealers somewhere around the middle of December. He said that they (the dealership) would then call the guys in who had bought the Pro and they would install the new shaft. Replacement time should be around two hours.

Unfortunately, he was unable to say exactly how they were better than the existing ones, or just exactly what, in fact, the fix is. Only that they were not just "more of the same". But he said Polaris has always been excellent when it comes to addressing problems with what they sell and doing something about them and that I should not worry about it. I guess I have no choice but to believe him. I've done business with him for a long, long, time and he hasn't lied to me yet.

KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!!!!!!

All shafts being replaced or just failures?

Just failures. How else could they really do it? Not good for us though.

I have to call BS there. When has Polaris EVER stepped up and cleaned up their mess. Have a feeling Polaris found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Do you know just failures or is that speculation?

My understanding is that an offer will be made to the buyer to change out the shaft. Whether you want to take a chance on the one that is already in the sled or not is your decision to make. What else could he have meant when he said that all the guys who had bought a Pro would be called and told to bring in their sleds?

The replacement at this time has to be just another 13 shaft(speculation but they have had zero time to design anything new and move it to production). So why would they hand you a new version of the same thing unless the whole batch was manufactured incorrectly. The supplier is probably under much tighter scrutiny now too. When Polaris receives the shafts I would be surprised if they are not doing a better job of inspecting them. Recalls are so costly. Could wipe out a big chunk of their 13 profits. Does anyone know when they would likely stop production of the 13 Pro or do they just make them year round?

That would be up to your dealer. They will only be reimbursed by Polaris for shafts that have failed.

They do not build sleds year round. more than likely they are finished with snowmobiles for the season or close to being finished. probably shifted production to ATV/SxS now.

Many of the atv's are built in Iowa, if not all of them by now or even mexico

I see the writing on the wall here . Thinking that Polaris will offer a shaft to those that don't have a certain vin number but for piece of mind they will offer it with a Polaris good faith service fee , since it hasn't broke they can't give it away . Hows that ???? Time will tell . Chance they can afford to wait out until warranty is over . This is the way times are now and accepted by the consumer . Backbones are in weak commodity .

What really sucks is if they know there is a few with issues, and have no way of knowing which units may fail, do you just keep riding your sled for the first few hundred miles close to the truck? Unfortunately the helicopter ride is not covered by warranty. RMK does stand for rocky mountain king, does it not. Perhaps they should label this years models as the polaris PLP (parking lot poser) so no one is mislead.

The fact is, it is cheaper for them to just replace the ones that do break, than to issue a massive recal. Dollars and sense here. Too bad us consumers get to pay for their F-ups. Still love my 12, but wont be spending money on their new and improved models too soon.
