I can't get my ski off.

I can't get one of the skis off my '06 Summit. The bolt and bushing has fused together. I have been trying to beat it loose with a hammer but no go.

Does anyone have any tips to getting this thing loose? I am currently soaking it with oil but I have a feeling that will not do the trick.

Thanks

Had that happen to me also. I had to cut the bolt in two places (each side of where it was stuck), then I was able to take it apart. I did have to pry open enough space for the saw blade. Good luck!

This has been an issue on Polaris sleds also. Can't help now, but when you replace them, make sure to grease up the bolts to prevent the issue again.

Yea the hot water didn't do the trick. It was way to stuck. I ended up cutting the bolt off with a die grinder and thin wheel.

I will just have to get a couple new bolts and bushing and it will be ready to roll.

Thanks

I was gonna tell you to saw the bolt in two places as well. I have an 05' king cat with the same problem. Lack of maintenance by the previous owner. It ain't hard to take them out at the end of the season and regrease them before storing for the summer just to avoid what you went through.

We replaced the bushings on our search and rescue sleds this fall, and ran into the same issue. We ended up pulling the spindles and taking to a press to push the bolts out. we were in the 2-3K # force... The material seems to fuse from what looks like a difference in material combined with the moisture. Once we got them in the press, it was not much of an issue. Cutting them out works also, but then you have to replace the bolts. We were able to save the bolts, clean, and slobber up with anti seize on the assembly. New bushings, and the inserts on the spindle. I would suggest to everyone, to take them apart when new, clean the oil off, slobber anti seize on the parts and doo that each year for preventative maintenance. The spindles come off fairly easy, however if you goop the ski bolts up each year it's never an issue. In my opinion.
