I cant be the first one to think of this...

Anyone thought of using and or used a dual sport helmet on a sled? Motocross style with a shield to offer protection, but still being able to use goggles as well. Thoughts? Reviews? Pros? Cons?

HELMET

Arai makes one and I have used it for years, no problems. I also have an AFX I built very similar. I will try it this year also. I usually only use the shield for cold ride homes, otherwise goggles all day. I think they work great and have friends with the same setup.

The lack of dual pane is the downfall of these helmets. I believe ZOX might have come out with a dual pane, otherwise, I do have an Arai for the dualsport days and I absolutely love it. Noisier than my fullface on the road, but an amazing helmet. I only wish it had a dual pane so I could try it in the snow.

Been tested before, and that is why it is not offered in a dual pane snow version to our knowledge. Nor do any of the ones we have seen (not saying this is all of them) actually have a seal built in to keep the helmet sealed to the elements like snow models. Also, what would the point of being able to use both goggles and a shield be in your eyes? Warmth? The helmet companies that make full faces say they don't fog, and the helmet companies that make open face/ goggle options say they don't fog. We have warranted both for fogging haha.

Just not sure what the reality of being able to need or use both would be? We are definitely down to be educated or told how riders would see this as a benefit though, if we are not thinking outside the box enough.

whats the feed back on those high price high tech goggles that Bombardier came out with last year and could not keep up with demand...??

The helmets are not meant for use with goggles AND the visor at the same time....if that's what I'm getting from some of these posts....how stupid would that be?

And to add one little tidbit....I tried the Progrip anti-fog lens that goes on the inside of a single pane lens and I still had problems, and this wasn't even in the winter, but brisk fall days on the bike.

The only goggles that do not fog for me are the ones with fans, whether my Smiths or my 509's. Without the fan, add the cold, and moist breath, every goggle will fog.

From the latest Snowest. Gmax has a snow specific dual sport lid.
