hypothetical question about belt drive conversion

Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
If a company came out with a belt drive conversion for 11 and 12 year modle sleds, would you be interested in one, and if so how much would you pay? would this keep you from buying a 2013? This would be a no drop and or roll, just simply, a retrofit kit of useing your orignal shafts, bearings, and simply supplying a new case and belt drive componants. ?

As I already posted in the other thread:
After careful analysis of the photo and crunching the numbers the center to center is the same on the '11's '12's and '13's so upgrading with stock Polaris parts is just a matter of collecting the part #'s and ordering them. The jack shaft will be different, the driveshaft may interchange, the two sprockets and belt, the bearing plate, and maybe the brake and disc. Done

Does not seem worth the time or expense to build a belt drive that does not relocate the drive shaft down and back at least one inch each way. With camoplast now building a 156, 3.0 pitch, 3" paddle that will be out soon it would be nice to have the option to clear that bad daddy. No interest from me unless it is longer.

I think Polaris will have this ready to throw into the 11's and 12's also. Just a matter of ordering parts as Loudhandle mentioned.

I concur! I made mention of that in the other post. Why they chose such a short center to center is just dumb! I'm hoping the aftermarket (CMX or someone) would stretch it to the 75T belt for ~8.6"CtoC or the 80 T for (~9.4" CtoC from memory).

I thought c3powersports was suppose to have a conversion ready?

any extending you have ot have a new case. CMX already has what you are wanting.

I'll check into their newer offerings. Thanks

Yes, I'd pay $500, I really think the belt drive is the only "groundbreaking" thing that they realeased, at least so far. Bonded a-arms ya its new & interesting but big deal. shorter seat, who cares, carbon fiber upper frame - not a deal breaker.

Kinda thinking the same thing. IF a belt drive conversion is available for the 11's and 12's and IF it didn't break the bank, I would definitely be game to upgrade. Otherwise, I'll just snow check a 2014 next year at this time.

I look at what is involved and can't see where there is a ton of money involved. 2 gears and a belt and some hardware.

I would agree with $500.

From a manufacturing standpoint it seems to me this may actually be cheaper that the traditional chain case. Less parts, no cover. Gears are probably a bit more to produce. Belt is cheaper than a chain???

I was told Polaris will be offering a retro fit kit for the 11's and 12's.

I hope so.... If they do and the weight savings is substantial then I'll convert my 2012!!! Be nice to walk on the Doos and Puddy Cats even more.....hahaha

x2, thats where i am at. nothing makes me want the new sled except for the drive

Ill consider it just for something to tinker with. But id wanna see how it holds up first. Also, im wanting to upgrade shocks before id drop $500+ on a belt drive.

back befor my Job got sent to china I had 3 CMX's and never had a belt problem, but a freind did because he didnt get it installed right on his conversion and had some belt issues untill we figured it out,,,, some spacers!!! the last one was a 1220 twin so it held up and I see they now have a turbo so I think the belt is going to be fine!!!
