I have one for my 2005 2500HD 8.1L ...
The main reason I bought it was to re-calibrate the computer for 285/75/16 tires.
Hence far, I'm not even making use of any of the "performance" features on it.
I tried the 'premium gas' setting on it for a few tanks when I first got it, and it did run a little bit peppier ... was the "pep" worth $400? No ...
Right now the only thing I have programmed is the tire size and the speed limiter is upped to 130 mph.
I use this truck to pull a trailer with, I don't really care about hot rodding it, so I didn't screw around with adjusting the shift points at all.
I wouldn't count on it increasing your fuel economy at all either. My truck has the 3.73 gears and larger diameter tires than stock and I still only get 15 mpg with it.
