Are the graphite hyfax worth a crap or should I just get white oem ones again? Are the regular black ones Shadetree Powersports sells (UHMW) the same material as the oem ones?

Don't want to fully clip my track so the hyperfax are not an option for me.

Graphite is supposed to act as an lubricant. I have heard mixed reviews on those. Some people really like them and others say they wear out quickly. You just never know what kind of conditions they are riding in.
The aftermarket ones should be the same stuff as the OEM at a better price.

Hyperfax is good stuff. http://snowmobile.off-road.com/snow...Fiction/ArticleStandard/Article/detail/196030

When I put Hyperfax on my last sled..noticable difference. When parked facing downhill you had better have the ebrake on or it starts moving. Less track resistance. However with the stock track you have clips only every other window with rubber in between each track clip. If my memory serves me correctly....you can NOT have rubber contacting the Hyperfax(brand)

I had heard that the maker of Hyperfax was nearing getting out of the bussiness. I dont think there is anything special about the stock slides. With the Teflon(Hyperfax) they can handle a heck more heat also.

I don't get why you CANNOT have rubber touch these slides that supposedly take more heat and are more slippery. I mean if they really slide better and take better heat, what does it matter if they are put under the same conditions as the factory sliders go through?

Great question. Not sure why exactly..except that rubber has more traction than metal. Also some rubbers grip better than others on different types of materials.

Heres the SLP comments..Can your slide take the heat? Stock hifax melts at 300-325ºF, HiperFax™ melts at 750ºF. This remarkable patented material reduces heat and friction for better high speed, hard-packed or use on paddle tracks without melting. Improved fuel economy and slide rail life.

*NOTE: For models that have closed window tracks you must use anti-wear pads. If track has all the windows open yet crossbars are not clipped, clips will need to be added.

I got into an area that someone else new very well..of course he didnt have a clue how to get us all back out...snow level was very thin and icy...all were low on gas...then I was smelling hyfax...mine were fine, where stockers were starting to melt.

TIP..if you are behind someone and you smell something that is similar to the smell of parafin wax burning..thats hifax! You can stop and hand pack snow into the tunnel if you cant get into some..or an oldtimers trick when you dont have scratchers or they are not doing enough...you can "carefully" you should not attempt this at home..Lay your boot down and drag it one side at a time at an angle that will shoot the snow into the track.

Simmons skis have a dual outside carbide that sprays a lot into the track..stock skis on the Polaris are barely on the snow and dont spray squat. ON simmons skis you can add little SS deflectors. I have them they work great. Do not get the steel ones they suckh. the Stainless ones last forever.

I have run Hyperfax on my last two polaris sleds without having every window clipped and have had no issues. Every sled I have put it on it is the last set I have installed on that sled. It's well worth the money in my book.

Are these the ones costing over a 100 a set ?? No they are not worth it.

Get white hyfax from Polaris. Last the longest for me.

Hyfax

I Ran A Set Of Hyperfax On A 07 And 08 Dragon 155 With Everyother Clip 10 Miles Down The Trail With The Scratchers Down I Smelt Rubber Burning As I Fallowed The Wife. We Pulled Over And Were There Were No Clips It Had Melted The Track Down On Both Sleds Alot. Didnt Hurt The Hyperfax A-tall. Clipped Every Hole And Havent Looked Back With 2500 Miles On 07 And 1800 Miles On 08. This Years Seld Is A Fabcraft Custom I Had Built By Mike And He Suggested To Run Cheap Hyfax With Every Hole Clipped So We'll Se. I Can Tell You With The Hyperfax The Sled Would Move On Its Own If Sightly Down Hill.

The ones I was talking about that Shadetree sells are the UHMW ones with a graphite blend for $19.99 ea. I just bought from them and picked up extras. Guess we will see how the next 500 miles treat me...
