Anyone know of any huts around that you can snowmobile into and is fairly remote? Just looking for something a little new. I've checked out 10th mountain division but not sure if any can have sleds driven to them. Any thoughts?

This is a tricky situation (sledding to huts). Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot ride to huts. The greenies say you can't and even the hut system suggests that you don't ride sleds to huts. You can only ride to within 1/4 mile of the hut (envelope around the hut). I have ridden a sled to a hut and the greenies didn't like it. They wouldn't even talk to us (imagine my pain). Then, when they were tired on the way out they asked us for rides! Hypocrites!

Were a hut system that caters to all paying costumers, end of story. If you like snow your more than welcome to come, and the sledding is awesome.

And I'll say that EVERYONE who I have met out there has been very cool. No entitled greenie kind of attitudes out there. I've towed in gear for skiers, driven back out to pick up others, and every one of them has made it a GREAT experience. Not sure if it's the fact that they're coming in on a sled trail so they know it's going to be mixed? Either way, nothing but good attitudes out there every time for us!

vagabond

vagabond is the shisnit. you want rustic sled in out this is the place.rustic enough but not so that you feel its 1820's. Jeremy is a sledder so he will take care of you when it comes to finding snow. grand lake is not to far over the mountain. all in all a rally great place with great people. mike

How much snow is up there right now?? I heard GL is very scarce..

Yeah, were having a light snow year to say the least like all of northern Colorado. But...there are still some great areas to play around in. Around GL its down right bare this year and pretty much unrideable. Hopefully it changes soon.

Another vote for Vagabond Ranch. You can ride to within a sled-length of the door. To say that everyone gets along there is an understatement. Everyone there just loves the outdoors, there's not really competition for terrain. Loved the laid back atmosphere. It's not often that a two-day trip can feel like a vacation.

If you can work it though.. try to show up for the disco contest...

Just so you know the old crazy lady denied the whole event....The one who was yelling at people for not getting into the hot tub at 1:30am. Best part is we have the pictures of her. What happens at Vagabond didn't stay Vagabond this time...
From what I hear the shots were being served in measuring cups, which I can't find...Nothing like 2 cups for a shot to get things going.

Yep, I got handed a half cup, full except for what got spilled down my shirt. It's the Colorado version of a Captain Morgan's magazine ad. Beanies and bikinis
