HPS can

Does anyone know if its a bad idea to put a can on a new sled before its broke in? It doesnt seem like it would affect anything but just wondering what everyone else thinks.

My thoughts are to put some miles on the stock exhaust, then switch it out.

If sled blows up under warranty put the stocker back on,then bring it in for warranty. No reason to give them an easy out for denial.

I plan to do the same for the same reason, the stock can must have to use or you will be denied warranty! We're going to be riding marginally snow the first few rides anyway, you won't need the can.

What does the can do in non-marginal snow?

Stays higher off the dirt.
For warranty, Polaris DOES use pictures a lot. (For example, they knew my bud had an SLP pipe on his even though he swapped it out because of the different hood wire routing.)
A shiny brand new stock can on a used sled will raise eyebrows towards a way to deny warranty either way, if they really want to be that way.

I have the same question. I'm not too concerned about the warranty aspect as I know my dealer will take care of me. My question is there any issues with running an HPS can at the start of my break in cycle versus running the stock exhaust? I honestly can't see that there would be any issues as I'm not chaning much, just curious?

I know of 3 2012s we put HPS cans on right out of the box. No problems, put it on you'll be happy.

Dealer is installing one for me with zero miles?
People do it with cars, dirt bikes, motorcycles, atvs and utvs. What difference would it make?
If warrantee is a question find a new dealer.:face-icon-small-dis

I have a new '13 that I'll be breaking in with hps silencer. My last sled was an '09 dragon that dealer put a full slp exhaust on right out of box... No problems!

I'm still putting mine on, but going to ask my dealer when I go pick my sled up this Sat.

If your dealer implies denied warranty for an aftermarket can, you might want to research the Magnussen Moss warranty Act or federal trade act.

If you find one in stock let me know, last 2 calls I made they were back ordered. But I'm going to run stock for now.

Brad, I saw that they claim a 100 rpm increase. Is there really a gain in power that's even noticeable?

"They have to prove that modification caused the damage."

...Said Congress. Magnusen-Moss Warranty Act.

Your right but are you going to hire a lawyer over a sled repair ? Polaris has been very resonable to me in the past over warranty repairs but you never know. Cans are easy just put the stocker back on. I agree with running it a little so its not brand spankin new .

I put mine on as soon as it was in the garage. The only exhaust concern was reseating the Y-pipe/pipe donut for the minor oil vapour leak.
