HPS Can

Has anyone put a hps on there pro yet? Have had there stuff on my last two and was thinking about getting one for my new one. Just wondering what they ended up with for weight and how they sound. Thanks.

I believe that they should have a can available in a week or so! I am excited to see how it works.

I spoke with Scott two weeks ago and if I remember correctly he said it will shave six pounds, and add a few ponys. And as always, the sound will be add a few ponys in our minds! I have run HPS on my past three sleds and they were always great... worth waiting for HPS!

From an email I got

"Release of the HPS pro rmk silencer will start the first of December. Specs: 6.5 lbs weight savings, approx 3.4 hp gains. All NEW baffle exclusive for the new polaris."

HPS silencers are very well made ....the units I have installed on other models/brands showed this quality.

The CFI motors are tuned to a certain backpressure with the stock pipe and fuel mapping...

Correct me where I'm wrong, but I thought that the only way that a silencer can affect the power output of an engine is to change the backpressure (plus or minus)

I'd be worried about the can affecting the durabilty of the engine and overall state of tune.... and if the can will void the engine warranty?

I'd like to hear how a can, in this day and age, increases the power of the engine?
I'm not interested in the dyno charts... just a methodology

I can understand the weight loss... six pounds brings the sled to 425ish pounds for the 155"

If you live in Colorado, you might want to check to see if it meets the state noise regs... the HPS cans are fairly loud compared to stock and some other aftermarket silencers.

I had talked to Scott a couple months ago when I picked up the sled. At that time he made it sound like the plan was to try and make the new can CO legal. Things may have changed since then. I know I liked the sound of my last couple from him, but it sounded like the new one would be a little more tame. Quality and weight loss are on the top of the importance list which I don't think I'll be disappointed in, just thought I would see if anyone had heard one yet. Thanks.

This may be a little off topic and I apologize, but has anyone else noticed that the factory can pushes on the plastic and makes it bulge out, especially at the rear. I'm thinking that the HPS can will take up less room and let the plastic lie flat. I had a MBRP can on my last sled, but I have heard that the HPS can is one of the only cans to preserve or improve HP. I think the MBRP actually loses a couple, but adds 15 HP in your mind.

BMP is supposed to maintain hp as well. i personally don't think any of the cans gain any power, throttle response maybe, most of the gain is in my head. bmp powder lite is loud, slp cans i've had (slp pipe kit on 09 assault) was great sounding and not over the top loud. i've heard but, not experienced, that some cans make the sled not run so well either, i'd hope you could send the cans back if you were not satified with it.

same thing on my sled, the bulge on the exhaust side of the sled.
