I'm jonsing! Can't wait till the 27th! So, I'd like to see your animals if you have tagged out already!

Should be a great season. mornings are downright cold here and with all the rain the grasses are still green. They have been talking already here.

Hasn't started here yet. Next Saturday is the big day. Post em up if you tag out!

I miss the Colorado bow hunt. I spent 5 seasons hunting my land and the wilderness area behind Pikes Peak. Always seemed to snow, be cool and ideal weather. Maybe it has to do with elevation of 9200 plus feet where I hunted.
In my years of archery hunting Utah I hated the heat and the start date, too early in my opinion.

I got awesome news this morning! I received a phone call from the DWR and it turns out that someone turned in their Any weapon, any bull tag for the Wasatch unit, and I was first on the list to get the call. I have been after a tag like this for 13 years! I guess I will be scouting it hard for the next month to see where the big boys hang out. Hunt dates are prime rut for Utah. Sept 17th through the 25th. So stoked I can hardly stand it :face-icon-small-hap

Yeah. I think Colorado's is too early also. It needs to be the first weekendf of Sept to the first weekend of October. And they need to stop plugging those retarded muzzy hunters in the middle. Those last two weeks the elk are just plain spooked. IMO, a typical muzzy hunter is the exact same as a typical rifle hunter, with the exceptin that he has to load individually. But the mentality stays the same. More often than not, you see bow hunters in between the elk and the muzzy hunter. That's suck, I been shot over now each season the last 6 years.

Nice buck! A friend just told me his buddy shot a 5x5 bull elk in the back of the head from less than 6 yards. He said it was execution style and it didn't move once shot. He somehow snuck in on it for the shot. That would make my heart pound so hard you could hear it from the next canyon! I will see if he can get me a photo.

That is a sweet looking buck! Sure it's Daddy isn't an elk. That's a heavy set of antlers.

Bump. Last weekend started out good. Saw and heard them as soon as I was walking out. Saw some more that night and then the call or shall I say text came in. Ruined the rest of the weekend. Family injuries and death. Fun. :(

i know this is the utah section but we got a buck the second day of the archery hunt in se idaho stocked it for about 2 miles got about fifty yards away and dropped this nice buck, first deer with a bow

Nice first deer, Treedocker!
Sounds like things have been slow here in Utah. The bulls are just starting to talk where I have been scouting. I sure hope the rut heats up by the middle of the month! Got a couple of good pictures of bucks I will post up later.

Adam, do you have my big bull tied to a tree yet? lol I need to call you.

I'll txt you the coordinates. Haha.

Sadly I haven't spent much time on the wasatch this year. I did get out into the Uinta's last week and found a few bugling bulls. Couldn't get one in close enough yet, but I have two or three days next week to give it another go. By Saturday the bulls should be pretty active. Call me and let me know where you have been and what you have been seeing.

Buddy sent me this yesterday. was taken near the Utah/Nevada Boarder.

Had a bull coming in this morning. When he got to about 30 yards from me another hunter started coming up from below trying to get in front of the bull and he turned and took off. I like it better when I screw it up. I don't usually need anybody else's help on that one.
