How's the boondocker turbos doing?

Swapping my bullydog silber out for a boondocker kit 63 series with torque tube set up, tired of the bogging issues and no cures, so just curious how everyone's boondockers are doing?

500 miles on my VOHK Boondocker, sled has ran like a champ every mile, soooo happy with it so far. Don't know how much of it has to do with being built and tuned by VOHK either way really happy. 8-9psi and its too much for stock skid.

Here is a vid of it running the only one I have downloaded cause it had the Avy in it but if you watch the whole vid you can see the run ability of it, very smooth and crisp.

201 switchback assault with 2012 race gas kit, 100% 100LL and everything from 11 to 13 psi. Works like a charm.

2014 Pro turbo from day one with 2860 intercooled kit. Currently at 400 miles. Running 8-10 psi on 75% Avgas/25% 91 non-eth. No bogs, lags, skips, just smooth power from bottom end till i can't hold on :face-icon-small-coo

Boondocker turbo

2014 boondocker 2860 tial water to air set up by Carl's cycle. No bogs run at 7000 ft on straight non ethonal fuel at 9 pounds. Carl's knows how to set these up

Are quickdrive belts holding up with the exhaust running right in front of it? Boondocker has a heat shield now right? What would all have to come off to swap a quickdrive belt out if one were to come apart? Ease of quickdrive belt replacement would be my biggest concern otherwise it sounds like the turbos are working great.

Don't waste your money on a belt change, no belt issues on the 14's, belt guard works fine, and 14 tial exhaust has lots of clearance, also get the Intercooler IMO, 500 bucks likely worth it. Four of us on 14s run 8-10psi pulls an X3 162 at 55-60mph flat out rips no issues runs perfect.

Agree with jib post, had a 13 pro with tial last yr no heat shield with older muffler and had belt issues. About 4 belts later put chain case on. Have 14 pro with new muffler and heat shield running 3 inch track and zero issues.

2014 Pro with GTX 2860 Tial kit, air-to-air IC, 10-12 lbs boost with 50/50 100LL/91 mix from 6k to 11k elevation. 162x3 Camo with Avid drivers. I'm not running a heat shield as I've installed the Fire & Ice belt tensioner. 460 mountain miles and no issues at all. I was just talking to my buddies on Friday and I couldn't think of anything more that I'd wish to have on my sled. The only thing I've adjusted since the first mile is my clutch belt tension and I've tightened my track a few times. I still haven't pressed a button on the BD box.

This kit is awesome!

I have a question about the vohk installs. What makes it so different then anyone else installing these kits? I mean the installs should be straight forward if u are any type of mechanic and tinker often shouldn't it? I understand that he tunes them as well but isn't that pretty straight forward as well? I heard he changes like 3's for his installs. I guess if you don't the difference between lefty loosy and righty tighty it might be worth it but for someone that has the ability to rebuild a 2 stroke doesn't make sense to me.

This is the easiest way to think about it. It would be like taking your race car to Hendrick Motorsports and having team 48 setup and tune your car as opposed to taking it to A local shop and haveing them do the work. Both are trained mechanics but well...you get the point. They build sleds for some of the worlds best backcountry riders. The average mechanic just can't compair to their experience. They have been putting turbos on sleds long before turbos were even being thought of being put on sleds.

Does that kind of help?

Absolutely awesome! My first turbo and decided to go with BD and Vohk for the history. 2860GTX Tial non-intercooler running 8lbs on 100% avgas is killing it. I just put a 2.6 track on it and got to try it out on 3ft of new this weekend, pulls even harder than I could imagine.

Boondocker and Vohk are an awesome combo!

2010 Dragon with pump gas kit and inter cooler. Running 8#boost on 100ll av gas. Very smooth power delivery and very predictable power. No bogs, no stumbles, no stutters, no issues at all. Couldn't be happier with it for my first turbo sled. Definitely hooked on boost now.

I think what jeepin was talking about is what are they changing from a standard BD kit? The BD installs are pretty straight forward. Is Vohk running its own maps? Clutching? Gearing? They must be changing something. If they are ripping that much better.

I know a few guys have been installing clutching from IndyDan with very good results.

Professional install that you'll never have trouble with... His own custom clutching... His custom mapping that he tunes on the mountain (not in the shop).... Sets whole sled up with your liking and what works best with boost.

Edit: these are just the things I know about, I'm sure there is other stuff done I have no idea about
