Hows everyones boot soles holding up?

I have 400 miles on my pro, and absolutely love it. I haven't had any issue with snow evacuation, but I am having an issue with my running boards tearing up my boots. So far I have tore up my Burton snowboard boot bottoms, and the first day out on my Klim Arctic GTXs the soles are getting destroyed. For those that say its from kicking the boards clean its not. I never clean my boards. Its also not the running boards triangle cleats that are doing it. I had a buddy take a picture of my feet position on my boards, and its the vertical cleats on the outer edge of the running board that is slicing my boots. Anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate the issue? Once again I want to reiterate it is not the triangle cleats, its the outer rolled edge that is doing the damage.

Put a layer of shoe goo on your soles.. It will prolong the life of your boots!

I have burton Motos also. when I stand the outer 1.5inchs of each boot is on the rolled edge of the board. When I look at the sole of my boot its the outer edge (snow side)of each boot that is getting sliced.

Maybe take a file and round off the edges a little bit so they dont cut in as much? I would think they would still give good traction since they stick up a fair bit.

x2

x2 on my boots. It is easy to see its that outside edge. Someone else on here in a different thread suggested filing that outer edge down a bit too. Said it worked great and no loss of traction. Kind of a lot of work though.

i looked at mine a little closer and i can see some wearing on the outer side up by my toes but not much.. i only wear a 10 and my feet fit in the inside of the rolled edge ... the running boards do seem a lil narrow on these pros.. ill think ill try filling them down a bit like byob said and maybe throw sum shoe goo on the bottom to to prevent it from gettin bad.

yes they do chew up boots. But not as much as my old xp ski-doo. I have accepted the fact that boots are a "wear item" and for me, I replace boots every other year [klim radium] ouch! I love the foot traction compaired to the older sleds.

don't really care about the boot bottoms as long as the boards really grip well when i need not to slip, and nice sharp edges that bite into the boot soles do the trick. imho:face-icon-small-win

WORD!
Yea it's weird how if you don't kick at your boards as much your boot soles will actually last longer. Triple the traction, stiffer/more durable footbed, superior ice/snow shedding, that's what we throw in for FREE! The boot savers gonna cost ya! :D

Don't think it is the kicking Rob, from what I understand the cleats on the outer rail are chewing things up. Do the BB sit above these cleats? That would help. When are you going to have a bolt on set available that would increase the width ready? Couple bolts and rivot onto 3/8-1/2 left on the tunnel after cutting off stock. That would be a slick setup.

400 miles on a set of Altimate boots and they are trashed. Bought a set of Klim Adrenaline GTX two weeks ago and I think I need to not kick the boards as much and they will last longer, Altimate have very soft soles though and the combination of that and the outside edge of the boards ate right through.

once again this has nothing to do with the middle cleats its the outer rolled edge. Unless BB replaces the outer rolled edge then there boards will not help the boots

For me it's the snow in the footwells. I also get buildup on the tunnel wall. My buddy has a wrap on the tunnel and that seems to work a little better for him. I might have to do the same.

I will agree I do get some minor build up at the tunnel wall. Only the outside of my boots are getting tore up though. the middle of my boot tread looks perfect.

I wear thirty-two brand snowboard boots when i ride, and they are holding up awesome. My buddies HMK soles are trashed from his Pro running boards tho... he claims to kick off the snow on ths running boards a lot and never has any build up

Ya my Klim Boots that I bought beginning of this year are getting destroyed by the sharp running boards. I have to kick the crap outta mine to clean them out. Our snow this year has been really heavy wet and I have almost no tread left on the outter edge of my boot. One of my buddies recommended wire-wheeling the running board edges to knock them down a bit. I haven't tried it yet tho...

Spraying WD-40 on the tunnel wont that make your boots and riding pants get STINKY. Especially when they're drying in the house.
