So after being asked thousands of times about "what kind of bike can I use, I have a _____________ or I have a ___________, will it work?" I have come up with a few comparisons to help our fellow two skiers understand, I am in no way comparing snow bikes to sleds, Those of us that have been to the other side of the bridge know that the snow is always deeper on the otherside, but I thought this may help guys get an idea of what bike would be best for them, this is what I came up with.
250 4 stroke= a good bike for a kid or wife, it will work but kinda like a 340 sled
250 2 smoke=440 race sled, light, super snappy, flickable, a blast in the ditch, not as much top end.
450 4 stroke race bike= 600 mountain sled, a really good all purpose bike, reliable, fast, responsive
450 4 stroke trail bike = good cross over bike, like a cross over sled, fast, smooth, good for trails and ok for off trail, creature comforts, estart, handwarmers, lights etc.
500 smoker= the 800 of snowbikes, big power, wicked fast, maybe not as flickable as a 450 or 250, but rips like crazy,
Big Bore bikes KTM 525s, bergs 570s etc,= power monsters, bigger in size, heavier, maybe not as maneuverable, but u wanna rip some serious hillclimbs and blast some big meadows, they will do it.
Turbo bikes= duh its got a turbo! of course it is bad frickin a$$!
I dont know, I was just thinkimg about it on my 40 min drive home from work, thought I would share it. What do you guys think, anything to add or remove? not saying I have rode them all, actually havent rode too many of them, just kinda cant ever stop thinking about bikes, I am actually writing while sitting in my new motorfist bibs I got for my b-day.... I have a serious problem
