How To Tell if 2008 or 2009 Nytro

I was just heading out the door to look at a used 2009 Nytro. But a quick look as I was leaving and from what I found so far the 2009's were blue, this one is red.

Does that mean that this is an 2008, or did they make red ones in 2009. I know I want the newer subframe, so I don't want to settle for a 2008 sled.

Any other tips for telling the difference? I'm not familiar with Yamaha's number scheme, and I have someone waiting for me to come look at the sled now.

Thanks!

The red/white Nytro is the 40th Anniversary model. Not much different than the standard 08 Nytro other than reverse, color, and a 12v plug on the dash.

They made blue ones in 08 as well. if the seat is red as Moto suggested its a 08 40th anni model. If it is an 08 it is very likely that the subframe has been updated because most people have bent them and you could only replace them with the 09 subframe.
if there is a gusset between the two bottom tubes underneath where the lower a-arm bolts to the sub frame it has been updated. They did not change the geometry of the front end of the MTX until '10 i believe. They changed it on the RTX the year before they changed it on the MTX There is not much difference between the an 08 or the 09 besides the gusseted front subframe.

VIN NUMBER 10TH DIGIT SHOULD BE A 8 OR 9

X2, yes the VIN # is the sure fire way to tell.
Just like cars/trucks when the VIN number has 17 digits the 10th digit will be the year. For example,

2007 = 7
2008 = 8
2009 = 9
2010 = A
2011 = B
2012 = C
2013 = D

The 1st digit is the country of manufacture

USA = 1
Canada = 2
Mexico = 3
Japan = J
