How to: Replace a 2013 Driveshaft

Hey guys,

I purchased a 12 driveshaft before the backorder. For $3XX.00 or so it's not worth the headache to me to be stranded, ruin a trip or be dead without a sled in the heart of winter.

Iam new to working on sleds but can handle most jobs with a little guidance. Anyone care to do a short writeup of what is needed to swap a 13 drive shaft and the torque specs?

driveshaft removal

Take secondary clutch off. Take 6 bolts out of bearing holder on left side. Take bolts out of both quickdrive pulleys and slide gears and belt off. Take 4 skid bolts out and remove skid. Remove driveshaft........so after 20 minutes its done and you have to figure out what else to do to avoid the wife. Hahahaha

Yes they are interchangeable.... I changed my drive axle out in the field in just under an hour and a half... after it failed... If you do not have electric start, (as mine did not) all that is needed for tools... 13mm, 15mm and 17mm socket (I used 3/8 drive), a ratchet, and I had a 3" and 6" extension, it makes it a little quicker but don't really need them.. also a 15mm open end wrench, # 40 torque and a pry bar. Also replacing the belt drive belt and sprockets went suprisingly well without the install tools. Hope this helps

Odd. When I odered my drivers from Avid, 13's are different than 12 and earlier. Good to know.

The driveshaft's are the same width and fit...but the driver area is completely different.

Looks like 12/13 driveshaft and drivers are different.

I hope the 12 shaft I ordered includes drivers..
I looked at the polaris parts finder and couldn't find a part number for drivers so will see tomorrow..

Yes they come with drivers and bearing installed.
