My cousin has an 01 Mountain Cat 800.. He told me he couldnt get the seat and tank to separate.. I went and tried to help him, but I dont get it either.. everything is unbolted, but it seems the tank and seat are like 1 piece.. I dont see how these come apart.. Can anyone help me out here??

Remove the tank now, unhook the fuel lines, wires and the seat will follow. They are a one piece.

Well, thats what has been done.. seat and tank came off together. There has to be a way to separate the 2.. Isnt there?? The seat is needing some repair (stitching).

They are molded plastic one piece. Empty the fuel and get it recovered. Last I looked there were covers on e-bay for the older ones like yours. You can do it yourself or take it to someone. BECAREFUL. One wrong move with a stapler and you have a hole in the tank. Might mention it if you take to someone.
King Cat changed into a two piece. There are some seats and tanks out there but hard to find sometimes.

Should fit. I replaced the tunnel on a 2002 MC 800 with a KK tunnel. I kept the one piece seat. I was told a KK would fit but could not find one at the time. Recovered it a year later. I'll try to find pics.

Thanks.. Maybe I will tell him to start looking for the KK stuff.. I just cant believe they would make the stupid things 1 piece.. makes no sense.. :face-icon-small-dis

You can also just get any 1M seat, and cut your tank to match it. You don't absolutely need the 1M tank. You would have to get the pins to hold the seat down in the rear also though.
