How to PULL START your Apex

You have never clutch started a sled before? I had to clutch start a flooded skidoo once that was at the bottom of a ravine. My brother pulled it so many times that the cam failed in the pull start. After about fifty times doing that I finally got her going, and then kept her pinned back to the trailer. I have been curious whether or not it would work on a four stroke motor.

Been discussed many times. I have seen sleds tumble 30-50 times and then we clean them out. Key is missing so we power on and pull start. If they are warm it is easy.......at 40 below hopefully you have boosted them from your vehicle in the park and then they are warm for the day. Or stay indoors ;)
Battery technology is so good now they seldom fail. its usually the Darwin award that means you need to pull start them.

It's funny that the Ski-Doo riders are hating on the Yamaha (in the phazer video) for a starter failing. When I owned a 97 summit 670 and then a 03 summit 800 BOTH recoils failed numerous times and I would have to pull the recoil and take it to the dealer to fix it. Dealer told me that they just weren't a good design and his personal sled had the same issue. He did however say that they redesigned it on the new ones and they were holding up 100% better. Don't get me wrong, I loved both of my sleds but I caught my fair share of banter from my friends each time it happened. (5+ between both sleds)

Each time my recoil failed I would throw it in my backpack and pull out my rope and have to start it by spinning the primary, just like in the video. This REALLY sucks on a carburated motor, every ski-doo I've owned/been around you have to push in on the throttle just a lil bit to get it to start. Pain in the A** to do solo.

I love how he has to give like 4 blips of the gas before shutting it off each time LOL Its hard to resist the apex sound and responsive motor!

Had some wires melt on a midmount Apex and cooked the starter, was easy to pull start. Fired right up first pull.

what is he useing there, just a strap with a handle? i can't see that taking up much room.

I have done this a ton of times on a 2 stroke, never knew you could do it on a 4stroke.

i have done it a few times on my one ton motor. its not bad on a low comp turbo motor that is warm.. if it was cold and stock CR have fun.

the one time the battery was getting low enough it couldnt spring fast enough to fire, but the battery and rope combo she fired instantly!! was aweseom!
