How to prove I own my sled?

So i bought my sled used 2-3 years ago, and the guy didnt really have any papers for it because the sleds been through a few owners, I wasnt to worried about it but now im seeing that BCs been doing a bait snowmobile thing which I personally think is awesome.... But id have trouble proving its my sled. Me and the old owner just wrote on a piece of paper that we did the exchange and signed off on it, I think i still have the paper but id have to look to be sure. Anyways what can I do to prove that its mine? Would I be able to insure it without proper ownership papers? Its a 2007 M8 turbo

Ps. Looking back on it now I know I probly shouldnt of bought something without better proof of ownership so no need to tell me

Go to the ICBC office, tell them the story, they will send you off to get a notarized form stating the transaction history. That's what they did with me a few years back in a similar scenario anyhow.

Yeah i guess the best thing would be to just go talk to ICBC and see what they have to say

From now till June 2015 you are in a bit of a grace period, since the new registration rules took place. To my understanding, you can go to an ICBC outfit and they can have you sign an affidavit proving sled ownership. The bill of sale you guys wrote up will help, even if it's pretty rudimentary. Also going to assume.....if you have never paid taxes on it, you will likely have to do so at that time.

I imagine if you get stopped by the 5-0 in the meantime, they will tell you to get to an ICBC outfit asap....but I'm also but who ever knows what the cops will do till it happens, right?
