How to narrow a 16" wide track...

I have a 150x16x2.5 (3.0 pitch) Challenger Extreme on my '03 900 MC 1m and a 153x15x2.25 on my '08 M1000 SP. I would like to swap these tracks but the 16 wide track wont fit on the M1000 chassis. I have heard of people narrowing 15" wide tracks to fit their firecat chassis before but figured I'd better ask around for advice/tips/techniques before I start hacking into a thousand dollar track.

Any suggestions?

I would think you would be better off selling the 16" track and buying a 15" one. There is always people looking for the 16" wide tracks.

JMHO,

If you don't want to sell your track and still want to cut the 16" down, use a circular (Skill) saw with a carbide blade. You can set the guide to a half inch from the bade follow along the inside of the track.

I used my table saw totrim down a 15" to work in a firecat. It was not to bad to do with an extra set of hands, but it sure was messy. There was rubber everywhere.

Table saw with a carbide blade!!!!

Two guys, powerful table saw, and as many teeth on the carbide as possible. Blade is pretty much toast when you are done. Use a well use blade. Done two for firecat.

Im trying to think how you would do this? Flip the track inside out and hold it up above the blade rotating it, or use a non-cabinet style saw with legs so the track could spin around the table saw. What did you do?
