How To Make Health Care Affordable

OK, I'm going to try this idea, and see if there's anyone smart enough to see the flaw in the plan.

Problem: Health Care is rising, companies can't afford health insurance anymore.

Liberal Solution: bring everyone down, to a common point, called socialized health care.

Another Possibility: Health care is expensive because technology can keep you alive, and everyone thinks they deserve the best, and doctors and hospitals like our money. Can't do much about those right now. But, another reason is because the welfare people, and the uninsured show up at the hospital and get free health care anyway. Then the Hospital turns around and charges you and me to make up the loss. That I state is wrong. I'm sorry, I know there's other examples of me paying more because of the poor or thieves, etc. But, it's not right. It's an unaccounted tax on the unhealthy working class.

I think the solution is too just make it illegal to charge people for services they didn't receive, and remove the requirement that hospitals take care of these people, if they walk through the door. Yha, cry me a river, I'm a cold heart'ed bastage.

I've read that hospitals charge people up to 3 times more than they should, to cover the uninsured. Now, if we could reduce that, to say 1/2. I think most businesses can afford health insurance, at half cost, or 1/3 cost. This way, I get the services I paid for, and worked for. Good affordable health care. More people will be insured, because more companies can afford it. We will have to open more government hospitals to take in the uninsured. (we will also know exactly how much it costs to take care of the uninsured, the cost is hidden now) They will be the same hospitals that Obama is currently planning on forcing all of us into. So, don't tell me it's substandard, cause I'm fixing to be forced into substandard. Do I deserve substandard, because someone else can't get insurance. Do you really think the rich, are going to go to Obama's hospitals?

I can only think of one example of true government health care in the USA, the VA hospital. Do you really want to have a VA type hospital as your primary care provider? Those of us that worked, and paid for insurance, should have affordable insurance, that isn't jacked up, due to someone else.

Wake up people this libility crap, and hospital bleeding heart crap; has forced us into a position where we now have to have socialized health care. Is someone going to stand here and tell me that it just happened that way? Or, was this the plan all along?

Wade is on to something here. Medicaid should only address life threatening situations and basic wellness issues. This is a subject I know a bit about as I am a psychiatric social worker and spend a substantial portion of my day with clients at hospitals and Dr.'s offices. The idea that the sky is the limit when diagnosing and treating Medicaid patients needs to come to a screeching halt. A lot of these individuals utilize their health care provides as a source of attention and/or a way to feed their prescription pain medication addictions.

Flaw #1: it doesn't level the playing field

Flaw #2: it is based on the belief that you only get that which you work for

Flaw #3: it doesn't grow government as big as many would like

Flaw #4: it makes sense.

What's wrong with you..?:p;):face-icon-small-coo

You forgot this one:

Flaw #5: It doesn't hang all the lawyers. I blame every problem in this country on the lawyers.

I have been advocating something like this for years. Insurance should be that insurance only. The problem is that it has degenerated into a health maintainence plan. Because employers bear the brunt of the cost, consumers never see the true cost to them and no one sees the hidden costs like lawyers, and the insurance giant machine.

I say, burn the insurance industry down. If their is no insurance, there will be no deep pockets to sue. Doctors will be forced to charge an equitable fee and their malpractice insurance will drop. The problem is there is a false economy similar to what socialist countries battle with. It becomes very inefficient.

This scares alot of people. But I tell you it won't be that bad in the long run. I pay some serious cash for my insurance that is supposed to be subsidized by my employer. The fact is, they do not contribute a dime. They negotiate a group rate that is a bit cheaper, but I can almost go outside the company for the same insurance. Here is the kicker. My ex step daughter got sick and went to the doctor. She paid cash for her visit and it was $70 for the visit and $50 for the anit-biotic. The same visit cost me $20 for the visit and $10 for the antibiotic. A difference of $90. I only see the doctor once or twice per year. My insurance premiums are way higher than $180/ year.

The difference is what happens if you get cancer or get into an accident. You could run up a serious bill. But the probability of that happening is much lower and catastrophic insurance plans reflect that in a much lower cost. The moral of the story? We should walk away from our health maintainence plans and by a high deductible catastrophic insurance plan.

If we do not want to see poor people not get medical attention we should set up charities. That way it is not a mandated "tax" by our health system and government.

I work for a defense contractor. I work with NASA, Airforce, Navy everyday. These are the people that brought us the IRS and the 600 dollar hammer. BELIEVE ME, YOU DO NOT WANT THEM RUNNING OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM!
