How to keep ceramic pipe from rusting?

I got a dyno port ceramic coated pipe last year. It looks good but after the first ride this year you can see where water dripped on it and formed a little surface rust. Is there anyway to keep it from rusting? The ceramic looks good, don't want it to get all rusty.

I was thinking about polishing it up and then wrapping it in heat tape. Would help hold heat in the pip and keep the water off. Any other idea's????

I had the same problem on my dp pipe on my xp. I tried many things and still spots. I recoated mine now with a high heat silica paint so far still good and I was tired of polishing the pipe up all the time ( a pain to get out all the time). Get some slp material or frog skinz, seal up those spots where the snow can get in.
As for header wrap tape, don't do it. It will make it worst than it is. The wrap holds mositure good for more rusting, and also with the mositure in the tape your pipe wont get hot enough. It might work if you can keep the moisture out under the hood. At least that is the experiance that I had with it.

I already have the slp material over all the vents. I think water might of dripped in when i washed it or when the sled was thawing out. There aren't many spots but i would like to fix them before it gets worse...

What was the paint called and where did you get it from? Did you paint directly over the ceramic coating on the pipe? I know i have used VHT hi temp paint in a rattle can on 4 stroke exhaust and it works okay... Not sure if this pipe would get as hot as a 4 stroke? Maybe i could clean up the ceramic coating then spray some of the VHT paint over the top of it, as it would be more water resistant than????

Yup it was the vht. Just make sure the pipe is very clean and scuff it up with a scotch bright pad and follow the instructions on the can. Mine turned out really nice, bunch of rides on it now and now rust spots so far.

I had a HPS can doing that exact same thing. I called up HPS and they just recommended polishing the can with mothers powerball. It isn't so much rust but impurity's in the stuff that touched the ceramic coating and got hot. He recommending not using anything to abrasive as it will actually wear though the coating. Just a powerball and mothers metal polish worked awesome for me!

Cheers
