How to keep Apex Throttle Bodies from blowing off?

After upgrading to a Stage 2 blower my throttle bodies blew off on the first ride. I rode 2 years with the stage 1 and never had this happen even though I read where plenty of others had this problem. I remember seeing a bracket of some sort on the old site, but I can't bring it up now.

Does anyone have a good fix for keeping this from happening again?

Thanks

Rick,

Was it the actual throttle body from the motor, or the intercooler from the throttle body? I personally have never had either blow off, but have been anal about everything being squeaky clean and triple checking the clamps. You can also have the little spacers in the stock clamps machined so they tighten a little bit more. There is also a Yamaha product that can be used to "glue" the throttle bodies to the engine but I can't remember what it is called. You shouldn't have to "bolt" it down!

Clean the surfaces and hit it with a little hairspray and the suckers will stick tight. Install a BOV and you should be good.

There is a silicon compound sold as the right stuff. Just a little bit of that and you are good to go. I learned this from alpine motorsports turbo build up video. I used it on my turbo m 800 that is known for that problem, and it has been great all season. That stuff is like nothing I have ever used.

Picked up some "The Right Stuff" today. Lets hope it works. Riding home with the Tors activated isn't any fun.

Make sure they are squeaky clean, and double check the clamps. Make sure they are straight all the way around!
