How to fill M series handlebars with expanding foam?

I see I wrote on my "to do list" this summer. Fill handle bars with expanding foam.

As I understand it, this is done to make the handwarmers more effective.

Is this worth doing?

AND

What's the easiest way to access the insideof the bar to get expanding foam in there?

Take the screws out of the bar ends. Insert spray foam tube, as far as you can and start spraying while pulling the tube out of the bars.

Have a rag next to you, some foam will come out of the screw hole before you can get the screw back in.

It does work, hand warmers on the M are not near as warm as other brands.

Remove the screw cap on the end of the handle bars.
Stick the tube in about 6" and fill with foam.
Go easy or you will have foam all over the place.

Use low expiation foam (window and door) rated for exterior use.

I did it to mine. It did help a bit but still not like my old ski doo. think I am going to go with some aftermarket wraps. Had some on an atv and they had to be on low the hole time because high was just to hot.

Did it a couple weeks ago, found out that it is good idea to take the bar off and tape over the hole in the center of the bar. The foam is finally coming off of my fingers. I would suggest the use of latex gloves and that you do not need nearly as much as you think... It will shoot out of the end of the bar if there is too much.

Foam

How deep do you go with the foam? I have put a straw on the tube for the foam to get deeper for other aplication,do you just want to get in as far as the hand warmers are.

I'll be doing mine tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

I would like a 12" hose though but, so would most guys! :D

like mentioned use it sparingly, once it starts expanding if you use alot it will be jizzin out any hole it can find. i didnt remove the bars like mentioned above i just stuck a rag under any hole i could find (the ends and center of the bar where it mounts to sled) and i recommend leavin the rag there for a while, like overnight. the stuff expands for a while.

oh another tip, the cans are pretty much one time use cuz they get all plugged up so if you dont wanna waste the extra foam look around the house/shop and see if you got any holes or gaps that need a sealin and take care of that when the sleds done. thats what i did anywho.

now ya tell me;) works good but what a mess. didnt find the whole in the middle of the bar and it went everywhere:face-icon-small-fro worth it tho finnaly got heat out of my warmers:D

When done, take the tube off the foam can and spray down the tube with brake cleaner. It easily eats it clean and makes it ready for the next use.

Just use a little sense when you use this stuff. The non expanding foam is the easiest to use. Expanding foam can get away from you fast. A little dab will do yah!

Have filled all my handle bars and now never need to set the heaters on high as they get to hot now... stuff works great.
