How to dye seat black?

I have a Boss high-rise with a red vinyl piece on the sides that would look so much better if it were black. I really dont want to go to the trouble of taking it off and having that section reupholstered.
Is there a black dye/paint that would penetrate the vinyl and not rub/peel off?
Any ideas are welcome.

I am trying some black vinyl paint. I got it at checker auto. It is a spray paint that says it will not peel. As you can see in the picture I painted the orange stripe on my 2010 seat. I put about 5 coats to be safe. Have not ridden the sled yet to see how well it holds up.

Thanks for the responses. I just remembered that a lady at the local grass-drags this last summer gave me her card for upholstery work on sleds. I called her and she thinks it will only run me about $40 to replace the red w/black.
I think the key to the vinyl spray is probably the prep spray.
