How to Clean Up Your Pipe

Just wondering how to clean up my pipe on my sled. Its always stored indoors but has surface rust all over it.

Do I dare just use a wire wheel on it to clean up the rust? And after I do that do I just put some high temp paint on it to keep it looking good? Does it have to be ceramic coated to stay looking decent?

Its just the stock pipe and I actually can't recall if when I bought the sled the pipe was already rusty. Its just that every time I open my hood and everything else is real clean except the pipe. Just makes me mad I guess.

i wire wheeled my dirtbike exhaust about once a month to keep it lookin good, but i would get it ceramic coated

I sand blasted mine, then went down to napa and bought VHT flame proof super high temp ceramic paint. But instead of baking it in the oven I just rode the sled for a while to cure the paint. Lasted 1 year already still looks good, no fading and darker than the stock paint.

Wire Wheel and some VHT paint, once a year.

I paid for coating last season, it lasted the season and i wire wheeled and sprayed again this year.

I think you have to start with a brand new pipe, and get it coated to keep the rust away.

my 2 cents
