how to bleed brakes?

Apparently I'm not smart enough to figure out how to bleed brakes on a sled. Done it tons of times on cars but can't get any pressure to build on the sled. Would someone mind explaining the process?

Fill the reservoir. Then does the cap go back on or stay off? Open valve and squeeze brake lever, or do you just open the valve and let it run until no more air purges? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have always used this method with bikes, sleds and ATV's:
Remove cap and fill reservoir. You can leave the cap off as long as your fluid level doesn't get below the outgoing orifice where the hose exits the reservoir.
Pump the handle a few times and hold it to the bars. While still holding the lever tight, loosen bleeder screw until brake fluid stops squirting out.
Tighten screw back down THEN release the lever.
Repeat until you build pressure.

Makes a bit of a mess but it works. Also helps to have two people haha. Same principle as a car in my mind.

Sometimes it may take awhile to build initial pressure, especially if it is a new brake line. Hope this helps.

Bleed Brakes

Use a 250 ML syringe from the feed store. Inject brake fluid in the bleed valve and make the bubbles go into the master cylinder. Easy and effective.

I use a length of clear tubing that fits snug over the bleeder valve. Cut a hole in the top of a used plastic bottle lid that the hose will just fit into. Now I can set the bottle somewhere close to the chaincase and watch the fluid and air bubbles as they travel through the clear tube.

Bleed as above but without the mess.
